"Worst accommodation experience- dirty toilet brush in the bathroom, stained paint, no working heating, car parking space only 4-5, no vanity, tea or coffee in the room. BWB bed WITHOUT breakfast paid $650 for one night, breakfast is charged extra so beware. Their website claims to be a B&B but it is a BWB! Poor experience. I read the owners response. Yes I am British and have lived in America for 22 years. Just to be clear, here is a photo of the Inn by the Bandstand website Check out the last line ": VOTED BEST BED AND BREAKFAST IN EXETER" Hmm bate and switch. Since then the owner has updated his website after I reported him to Expedia."
"We had our boutique micro wedding at Inn By the Bandstand and it couldn't have been more perfect! The setting is the epitome of old New England elegance with immaculate upkeep and beautiful attention to detail: fresh flowers adorn the inn and guestrooms (arranged onsite), and each room features breath-taking interior design with gorgeous oil paintings and antiques, as well as all the modern amenities you could ever need, and the outside patio has a perfectly cultivated garden (where we took many photos). We also catered the wedding reception at the onsite restaurant Ambrose. The food was absolutely spectacular in both taste and presentation thanks to the amazing Chef Stanley! And of course, the kind and wonderful Inn Owner, Jaime, was incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond at every trun (and is just a joy to be around as well!). Everyone who works here is kind and professional, and you couldn't ask for a more beautifully cultivated historic Inn. We plan to return for anniversaries!"
"My husband and I enjoyed staying in the Adams Suite. The room was a bit over decorated for my taste with bits of vintage pieces spanning American Victorian to Asian. The room was immaculately cleaned each day, which we appreciated. Our biggest disappointment was that the restaurant was closed during our stay. When I booked, I specifically asked if breakfast was included. I was told no, but the in house restaurant could prepare a lovely breakfast as well as dinner. We were given no directions for an alternate restaurant in this tiny town, but left to eat at the Noodle house across the way. We paid the full price for our room, without any compensation for the inconvenience. I would not have stayed at this inn had I known in advance the restaurant would be available. I would have given a 3 star for service, if it weren't for Marcia's graciousness in offering to do a load of laundry for my husband when he asked where he could find a laundromat. His cloths were neatly folded and placed in our room. Thank you, Marcia."
"This brief overnight stay was absolutely unforgettable. It was like a dream in which every corner you look opens up into evermore detail. The Inn fits somewhere between living history and boutique sleepover in your coolest collector friend's house. Just walking to your room, it is so easy to forget what century you're in, and imagine yourself crossing paths with a Victorian era hotel guest. Robin received us with warmth and a palpable, loving attention to detail. Jaime greeted us in the evening with a finger on the pulse of dining in downtown Exeter. As gluten-free vegans with a long list of don'ts, we were truly in Jaime's debt for making us feel at home both at the Inn and around the idyllic downtown. We will be back very soon, and will be getting gift certificates for friends and family to experience the Inn's ability to carry you back to the 1800's and make time stand still."
"I've stayed at B&Bs and Inns all over the country. This is hands-down my all-time favorite! The owners/chef/staff are so genuinely caring and want nothing more than to provide comfort and luxury. The Inn itself is a masterpiece of modern luxury blended with the aesthetic of the architecture and era it was built. And they even have a Nespresso machine in the butler's pantry for guest enjoyment! We have one at home. Best coffee on the planet! I stayed to do my husband's company accounting in peace and quiet. I'll come back as often as possible."
