New Shoreham House Inn

"Very mixed experience. It is the cheapest accommodation on the island, but this was a lesson in you get what you pay for. Suddenly in the night, we heard a stream of water flowing down from the ceiling. Our floor and luggage were soaked. We went upstairs to investigate and there was a shower and bathroom above our room. In the bathroom, there was a sign telling anyone showering to pull the shower curtain into the shower to prevent leaking into the room below. Evidently, another patron did not heed that warning. The room also smelled very musty during the daytime, so it is seems this has been a problem for a while. The service from staff was fine, but if you need help, it has to be during business hours. When the leaking happened, we tried calling the front desk number multiple times, but the phone would ring until eventually the call timed out. The location was great and close to almost everything in the main part of town, but the water leaking and musty room really made it a hard place to be, especially while stuck for a few extra days when the ferry was canceled."

"Great deck for people watching. We stayed in room five, very small rooms and only one shared bathroom on the floor. I believe there were at least six rooms on our floor. The bathroom was small and overall it worked for the most part. I'm not completely impressed. For whatever reason the heat in our room was on the entire time, there is no way for you to control this - unless I completely missed it. The room stays more warm than not and that didn't make for the best sleeping, that was also with the window left open. I went with a friend of mine and we paid $129 a night before tax. The walls are super thin, we heard conversations and doors slamming throughout the entire weekend. The young lady who cleaned our floor was very nice and helpful in anything we needed. I'm more likely will not stay here again, mainly because of the space and the shared bathroom. They also give you an ice bucket, however the ice is in the main building where you check in - next door to the New Shoreham. I will say the sunrise and the view from this room is amazing!! I was told by a couple of people this place was haunted, So it may be a great experience for some of you. Lastly, this place is right across the street from the ferry and next to several choices for eating, drinking and social activity."

"It was okay. The room was clean and they provide fans but it does get very warm. The view was great. But the bathroom was not cleaned regularly, and there was no hand soap in the bathroom all weekend. There is a bathroom on the top and 1st floor and the bottom floor bathroom was really gross and also ran out of soap on the last day we were there. When I complained they just said "sorry we will get someone to fill it". With the amount of staff who work there (harborside inn) that I saw standing around Its hard to believe no one checked the bathrooms until Sunday. I would not stay here again or recommend it, the other buildings I've seen/ stayed in were much nicer. This is definitely the bottom of the barrel in terms of rooms."

"Really enjoyed our stay here. Very laid back, great central location! The porch was so nice. You can sit there and have your own drinks and snacks while enjoying the great views. We had a group of us enjoying cheese and crackers and cocktails while planning our next adventure. No air conditioning The first night was very hot but the breeze and window fan made it more bearable. We stayed in room 17 and like the other person said in their review the bathroom still needs hooks for the towels and maybe a new shower curtain. But still gave it a 5 because I would definitely stay here again."

"Perfect when you know what to expect. Small room, small bed and shared bathroom. The bathroom should be set up dorm style with doors on the stalls but it is not. This is their biggest downfall. They could accommodate so many more people if they did this. That being said, it's a perfect location. Great deal if only staying a day or two. Short walk from the ferry so no need for a car. Bike rentals available when you book. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. You can't beat it. And the rooftop deck is the best part of the hotel. Great place to watch the town walk by."
