The Cottage B and B 14 Prospect Hill Road, Stockbridge, MA 01262

"We stayed here over the New Year’s holiday. The location is perfect-close to some of the most beautiful views in the Berkshires. The hostess is charming and helpful, letting us know what to see and where to eat. Other reviewers pointed out that the Cottage B&B is neither a cottage or a B&B - and that is true! But it is a fun bit of time travel to the 60’s/70’s like staying in a clean, comfortable Brady Bunch house. And having communal breakfast with strangers was never enjoyable for me at traditional B&Bs. WiFi and tv are not optimal, but that’s not why we went to Stockbridge! We had a great time, ate great food, saw the sights, and enjoyed great live music. Thank you for hosting us!"

"False advertising: there is no wifi (host's "excuse" that it works in her room -- obviously she has no intention to fix it.) No breakfast (assuming you don't consider a bagel put into your room for for the length of your stay, in advance, a breakfast) Bathroom is so tiny that a sink doesn't fit. (There is a sink in the bedroom.) It is filthy too. Milk in the fridge was sour. Kitchenware was sticky, not washed for ages. We washed the few we used. We stayed for 2 nights and we indeed had a coffee machine. With 3 filters. God forbid we drink 4 coffees in 3 days!"

"First, this is not a b and b, it's just a person renting out 2 different spaces in her home. Our group occupied both sides, very quirky, the owner lives in the building and she is also pretty quirky. One bathroom sink was COMPLETELY clogged up, she handed me a plunger........hey, I don't work here! Get a plumber! The other unit (2 bedroom) requires everyone staying there to pass through 1 of the bedrooms to get to the bathroom. No sink in that bathroom, it's outside the door in the bedroom. The pricing and location are good, but it's not what I was expecting."

"I can't begin to write our entire experience. In the end, the four of us in our group felt it was worth the forfeiture of the $300 the owner 'Carol' is 'keeping on a tab for us', rather than refunding our money.... to keep our health. The rooms were dirty, carpets stained, lampshades had what looked like mold on them, towels were DIRTY. Breakfast was in the closet in the room, in a college size refrigerator, fruit (clearly old), quick bread (purchased from store, already opened with pieces missing), quiche, (purchased from store, with only a microwave to heat it up). When I reminded her that we wouldn't need breakfast until the second morning, she responded "what's your point?". Clearly, besides giving us old food, she had no intention of seating us at a breakfast table with coffee and tea as we have unfailingly seen at even the most minimum service B&B. The one bathroom, tiny, had only room for a shower and toilet. The sink was outside the bathroom, in the bedroom with two of our party. As we had to be at Kripula by 6:AM, something Carol was aware of, this was a situation she should have mentioned. I could go on and on, but will just say she couldn't have been more rude and sarcastic, and that was BEFORE we said we couldn't stay. Her response when I politely told her we needed to leave, was that she always had problems with Kripula 'girls", their standards were just too high and she is considering not renting to them anymore. I'll stop here, but please don't waste your money."
