"I feel like every time an elderly person or basically anyone comes to this hospital you better plan on waiting hours to be seen. If you are an older person you can basically forget it! They don’t care about your parent / grandparents. They write you off and most likely you will leave due to the long waits and lack of concern . This hospital never changes. My 84 year old father is currently in this so called ER for a an emergency and ends up sitting it the freaking waiting room for hours! Still waiting so decided to call this so called patient advocate!! What a joke! !! I’ve left multiple messages with no call back ! Update !! He’s still waiting ! Checked in at 1:42 this afternoon ! Others have come in after him and he’s still waiting! This is disgusting!! I’m absolutely disgusted by this horrible hospital and the ignorant staff ! Shame on you ! Over 14 hours waiting in that hospital! Left at 4:30 am cold and starving!"
"Horrible, Horrible ER service. My father has been waiting to see a DR for 11 hours. Triage keeps saying that he should be back next. It appears that they age discriminate. He’s not the only elderly person that has been waiting for over 10 hrs. They keep taking younger people back saying they are priority. I’ve questioned them why so many people that came in after us have been taken back and they have no answer, just keep thanking me for my patience. The treatment here is worse that 3rd world hospitals. They could care less about how much pain and suffering the patients are in."
"My 75 year old mother has been in the ED at least three times over the past month for issues related to her congestive heart failure as well as falls. She has difficulty breathing and spends 6+ hours in the waiting room. Twice, she’s signed herself out AMA due to the wait time. Patients get anxious waiting and at some point she figures if she isn’t getting care-she may as well be at home. This last time she waited over 15 hours and was brought in by ambulance at the recommendation of her doctor. She’s now admitted so clearly-she needed the medical care. This hospital’s ED is severely overloaded, the staff clearly overworked. UMMS-Either hire more staff or structure them differently so that patients don’t have to threaten to leave to see a doctor. When you’re in the ED, you’re at your most vulnerable. 15 hours to be seen for a true emergency is unacceptable. I reached out to a patient advocate and she called the ED who told her they were on overload but no other information. It wasn’t helpful, although Erin, the advocate, was extremely kind and understanding. Do better by your staff. Do better by your patients. Someone is going to die in the waiting room waiting on care that isn’t coming."
"I was in this hospital for five days in October 2020, and this was one of the best stays I had. These people treated me so well with kindness and compassion. Not only did they heal me with medicine, they healed me with their kindness. The staff there was so amazing. They were God-sent, and I just want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart because of the way you guys made me feel like you cared about my safety and my health."
"We LOVED our birthing experience at Washington Medical. We are so grateful and speechless regarding the process (read the whole review!) Our doctors (Dr. Emarievbe (delivery) and Dr. Gardener (receiving and triaging) were OUTSTANDING. Knowledgeable, caring, and wonderful bedside manners. They made us feel at ease and we can honestly say this was the BEST hospital experience we have ever had. I can not thank our RNs enough. Especially Kelsey (receiving), Dena (delivery), and Margaret (post delivery care). These ladies deserve medals. Dena in particular cared for my family as if we were her own. She was absolutely incredible and we were so thankful to have her as our delivery RN. In addition, we also spoke to different staff members during our stay. Alexis (RN) helped us with nursing. Pediatricians stopped by just to check up on us, and two amazing staff members did my child’s audio assessment and screening. I wish I took better notes on everyone’s names. Five stars. All the way. If you have the chance of delivery here, I would not think twice. Get to know the staff and let them know they are true heroes. If I forgot anyone, I am so sorry. You all are amazing. Love, Lincoln’s parents."
