"My Disheartening Experience with Discrimination and Customer Service: I feel compelled to share an unsettling experience I recently had TJ Maxx & HomeGoods which serves as a stark reminder that discrimination persists even in everyday situations. A few weeks ago, I purchased an item from TJ Maxx. I took it with me on a trip, only to discover it was defective. Upon returning, I decided to make a simple return. Little did I know this routine task would spiral into a deeply humiliating encounter. Upon entering the store to return the item, I was met with refusal, citing the absence of a tag and receipt. I found this perplexing, given that the item was undeniably from TJ Maxx. Seeking a professional resolution, I requested to speak with a manager. However, what transpired next was disheartening. The manager who came to assist me not only dismissed my concerns but also openly mocked my accent in front of my son and other customers. It was a profoundly embarrassing moment. To add insult to injury, she insinuated that I might have stolen the item, a baseless and offensive accusation. Calmly, I explained that I had the credit card I used for the purchase and could provide the exact transaction date. I even suggested reviewing security camera footage to confirm my presence. Regrettably, my words were ignored, and her response was lost in laughter at my expense. Feeling humiliated and misunderstood, I left the store. However, upon returning home, I found the receipt that confirmed my purchase. Armed with proof, I returned to the store, hoping for a more reasonable resolution. This time, someone else came to assist me. I presented the receipt that clearly stated I could receive store credit if the return exceeded 30 days. Shockingly, he mimicked the previous manager's behavior, ridiculing me and declaring, "No, I will not return it." When I requested his business card, he wrote his name on a piece of paper, mocking me further and challenging, "Show me what you can do!" I had to leave, as my son was in tears, saying, "I don’t want to live here anymore." I share this experience not to vilify TJ Maxx as a whole but to shed light on the importance of addressing discrimination and ensuring fair and respectful treatment for all customers. Discrimination should have no place in our society, and every individual deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their background or accent. Let's hope that by sharing our experiences, we can raise awareness and encourage positive change in how we are all treated as customers. It's time for a more inclusive and respectful shopping environment for everyone.."
"Eating in here is consistently very nice. The service is quick and the food is always good. It's also our go to for takeout. I find their spice level a bit spicy, but the quality is always great."
"I had never been in here before I had forgotten my new card and wanted to purchase at least 20 items and was allowed to leave everything overnight but when I called and asked just hold them for a little while longer I was told everything was put back and if you hurry you might find everything, no I couldn't find anything, I have a family member handicapped and that was my delay, no one cared, oh well! I won't go there again!"
"Just got back from vacation in Panamá. Went to return a bathing suit and sunglasses. And was treated as if I stole them. When I could not find my receipt in my emails. Mae was dismissive and impatient. So I asked her if a manger could help me. I shop here often and knew the other lady at the register was a manger. But they had me wait for at the least 15mins. While they assisted several other customers in line. Manager Lisa finally came up to the counter. No greeting or anything. She listened to Mae. And responded by saying she can not help me locate the receipt on my phone. She was unprofessional, short and rude. Exhibiting this behavior from a manger. Makes the other staff think that this is acceptable. I shop at TJMAXX frequently. And until today I felt like a valued customer. Especially because staff and management had been welcoming, professional and accommodating. I walked back to my truck and looked through all of my paperwork. And thankfully found the receipt. Not one apology or acknowledgment from anyone. Horrible customer service experience TODAY."
"Hello. I enjoyed my experience here today. I have been making the rounds of TJ Maxx's. I create gift baskets. I purchase the contents for the gift baskets, such as a candle, a mug, lotions, hand washes and nail sets, all here at TJ Maxx. I enjoy creating the gift baskets, but I love it when I see the look of surprise and joy and happiness when I present it to the person that I made it for. For me, that look is worth more than a million dollars. I visited the one in the City Line Shopping Center, the one in Broomall - Lawrence Park and the one in Jersey. This is the fourth TJ Maxx that I have patronized. I love their selection of products. One thing I do not like is the associate's always asking if I would like to apply for their card. I realize that is their job to ask, as they ask everyone, but I prefer to pay by cash and not use the card. I am referring to the rewards card that they carry and to get it, you have to apply for it by revealing your personal information. I do not choose to disclose that and I prefer to use the method of paying that I am currently using, which is cash without the rewards. I liked it here very much and I will return when I need more items for another gift basket. Have a pleasant day."
