"I came here to see the Christmas decorations. I loved the differently themed rooms. The cost of this special event is $20 for 40 minutes. I moved at my own pace. Some rooms were very crowded, so I would go ahead and check back later since I was solo. I want to go back for the guided tour so I can learn the history and hopefully see more of the castle (many areas were roped off). The tile work was astounding. I'm sure this would be very cold or very hot and humid, depending on the time of year."
"Wow! This is an absolute hidden gem! I've lived in PA my whole life and in the vicinity of Fonthill Castle the past 15 years and never knew it existed. Joe, our guide was spectacular and paced the tour in the most interesting and interactive way. He gave detailed information as needed, but left us wanting to ask a few questions, which was perfect! This made the tour so interesting and with no awkward pauses or anything like that! The tour is 1 hour, but it does not feel like one hour, because the tour is so well structured. I am a huge fan of the policy to take as many pictures as you like. That was refreshing! Parking is easy. As you enter the driveway, vere slightly left, and park anywhere in gravel parking lot. Walk toward the castle and stop in to the smaller building to the right to check in and wait for your tour guide. You'll then be walked to the castle by your guide and it is a wonderful journey from there. Fonthill Castle is definitely worth the visit!"
"Firstly, get tickets in advance to guarantee your trip. This spot is 100% worth the trip. It was one of the most memorable experiences we had on our trip in the area, and we had a blast walking through the rooms and learning the history of the estate and its founder. Our guide was friendly, helpful, and super patient with some rather overly engaging children; she handled it like a professional. I would love to go through it again in the future, as frankly you would need somewhere between 10-30 minutes in each room in order to see everything that was in it, and fully appreciate his work."
"First i cant believe this is in Pennsylvania! I so glad its a guided tour. One because she had so much information to tell and another you would definitely get lost trying to find your way out. The castle is just fascinating and unbelievable. He had such a vision and it shows. Also each room we were guided through had even more history attached to it. Wow! I enjoyed it so much i would go back again. Definitely worth the 28 dollar entry fee for 2 of us. If you have the time and enjoy local history do go."
"Definitely a must see especially for children six and up! My daughter dressed as a princess and enjoyed seeing a real castle! Tour guide was able to give us fascinating facts about the castle and history about Henry Mercer and his family. I didn't know the castle contained artifacts from thousands of years ago! Castle grounds are beautiful too... complete with a pond that you can check for frogs and two miles of trails. You will not be disappointed! We didn't have a reservation prior to arrival and was able to get the earliest reservation."
