"We like to sneak off to Cape May in the off season so we booked a room on a whim one Saturday night in October. Check in was easy and staff were all pleasant. Room was clean with a balcony. The beach is across the street and there are several decent restaurants within walking distance. Unfortunately, our room faced the neighboring Royal Hotel of Cape May, which may have the loudest air handling unit in North America on their roof. I felt like I spent the night in the Newark Airport. It's probably much better on the other (east) side of the building if you have a choice. ."
"The hotel is lovely! Situated in a nice quiet area of Cape May. Parking can be at a premium if you are there at busy times. The room was lovely even though one door made a noise and the other one struggled to close. I would return!"
"Gem of a hotel right across the street from the Ocean and close eveything in Cape May. The ICONA is very clean, has a great, friendly staff and some great services. They will bring chairs and umbrellas to the beach for you and they run a shuttle service to anywhere on the island. We highly recommend the ICONA Cape May and can't wait to go back there"
"I highly recommend. Would come back here next year as well. Front desk staff is very professional and helpful. They have a free shuttle service on the property that will take you anywhere in Cape May (e.g. whale watching Port, the light house, Washington sq mall, you name it). The property also provides foldable and comfortable beach chairs and umbrella which a friendly porter on premises will bring out to the beach for you across the street (and also help you bring any other bags or items you need to bring to beach). They have a small pool (heated, open 10am to 8 pm daily, no life guard) that is up to 5ft deep. It is small, but the kids will have a fun time splashing around and we even made a new friend while playing there every morning. There's also a clean unisex restroom at the pool where you can change if needed) the pool also provides towels. Parking is limited (I was told they have a total of 53 rooms and only 47 parking spots), so I recommend once you find a spot at check-in, then keep your car there and utilize the shuttle service as much as you can. The Washington sq mall is in walking distance (15 or so minute walk) which is where my kid and I spent most our days. We had a premium King room where we stayed for three nights, and because we were enjoying our stay in Cape May, I asked the staff if I can stay an extra night and even if it was one of their busiest weeks of the year they were able to accommodate me and we didn't even have to switch rooms! I know this is not always possible so your experience may not be the same, but just the fact that they were able to accommodate us on such short notice I was really grateful. There was a small balcony with partial ocean view but that's good enough. They have ocean view rooms too but I'd imagine they'd have to deal with all the noise from the main road between the hotel and the beach, and kids at the pool. We brought our own portable dehumidifier (the ac will cause high humidity level in the small room) and also plug in electric cooker so we were able to cook in the room, but there are plenty of good places to eat in walking distance . In our Premium King room they had a coffee Keurig machine and a microwave, small kitchen sink, mini fridge (good working condition!), and a utensils and plates/bowls. Also, a small cutting board, dish drying rack, bottle opener, can opener, dish soap, dish washing rag and paper towl and rack. Everything you need for a long stay!! Also a safe in the sizable closet, with shelve compartments Inside, a ironing board, iron, two bath robes... Bring your own indoor slippers!! The ac was quite strong and working well and we were perfectly happy to have it set at 72 daily Our room was onthe first level just down the hall from the lobby but we were not bothered by any lobby noise and sometimes we could hear the elevator ding sounds but it was not bothersome at all. I do recommend bringing your own white noise machine though because the room does not provide it. The hotel also provides beach pass/tag that you can use during your whole stay. Just don't lose it it will cost $100. And bring your own beach towels! There's a clean unisex bathroom in the lobby where you can change if you want to hang out at the beach until check in time (3pm), and they'll text you when your room is ready! We got cleaning service every day during our stay and the cleaning staff are so friendly. You might find the pillows to be too soft so you should bring your own, but that's just my personal preference. Others might find it just right for them. The sheets are soft and clean and we had no issues with bugs at all. The shower pressure was not that strong but absolutely good enough and we had no issue with this at all. There is ample hot water too so turn it up high based on your preference. Chet is the operations manager and the other staff are very accommodating and kind. Everyone was just wonderful. The Icona Cape may is where we will definitely go back next summer."
"We’ve stayed at both Icona sister properties and this was our first time at Icona Cape May. Impressed by everything from customer service, to beach access with bathrooms, valet parking, and shuttle service. John & Al took us anywhere we needed to go and made it so easy to leave the car parked and relax for the weekend. Room was clean, like it actually smelled and *felt* clean not just the bare minimum like most lived-in beach hotels. This location still feels very new but operates smoothly and made our stay extremely enjoyable. We were pleasantly surprised by the the free beach umbrella & chair service. (Bring cash for tips, these guys work hard so you don’t have to!!) Would come back & highly recommend this hotel."
