"I made a reservation for July 4th week last year. I tried to add a day to my stay and wound up accidentally creating a whole new reservation. When I realized my mistake, very quickly, I called the hotel and explained my situation. The manager said he would take care of correcting the double booking. I came for my stay which was okay but when I got my credit card statement the charge for two reservations were on there. I called the hotel and explained the situation but they wouldn't issue a credit. I disputed the bill through my credit card but Tidelands refused to credit or even offer to transfer the stay to another date. After over 10 years being a guest, I will never stay there again. This was over $1,300."
"I stayed here with a group for the Oceans Calling festival this past weekend, and I do not recommend it. While we really couldn’t beat the location right on the boardwalk and the proximity to the fest, that’s about where the positives end. Someone in my group said the pillows were actually nice to sleep on so there’s that too! Beyond that, the stay here was disappointing and not worth the money we paid. Upon walking into the building where our room was located we were hit with this awful smell that could only be described as a mix between dead fish and pee. Getting into the elevator we were met with fruit flies, which considering the smell that wasn’t surprising. Unfortunately getting out the of the elevator on our floor we noticed the flies were in the hallway as well, and even had them in our room the entire weekend. In the hallways there were gross black spots on the carpet, and a lot of the doors looked damaged. Ours had a dent in it that looked like someone used a crowbar to get into it at some point which was concerning. The ice machine on the 4th floor didn’t work. The room was not cleaned very well before we checked into it. The floors felt gross and had a sticky residue across the whole thing, I wore sandals even in the room due to this. There were dripping stains and marks on the walls, who knows what that was. The bathroom didn’t have a working fan and there was mold on the ceiling and floor, the counter top was broken and separating from itself. The shower head had a lot of buildup on it, and made an awful squealing sound when using the hot water. I wish I had taken pictures of the room for reference, but you can find pictures of the things I’m talking about here in other reviews because apparently the issues are common. While the hotel has parking, it is very limited. Each room is only given one space so that’s something to be aware of when traveling with a larger group. There is overflow but it’s a few blocks away from the hotel (nice that they have it, but not ideal). I personally didn’t interact with the staff beyond a quick hello to the cleaners in the hallway, but they seemed nice enough. A friend of mine booked the room for our group and our choices were limited due to the festival, so I didn’t look at the reviews beforehand. If you are reading this review now, I’d suggest staying elsewhere! But if you’re looking simply for a usable bed and don’t care about cleanliness, then go for it."
"Five girls in the room and two towels , one had black stains. The maid claimed they didn't have any tissues or towels to give us. The place was completely filthy. Our air conditioner did not work for 2 days. The microwave was unusable. The staff in the other building actually, let us walk up to the rooftop pool knowing it was green and unsafe to swim in, smh. Hallway carpets had black stains everywhere. The hallways smelled awful. I do not recommend this place. I would say spend a couple extra dollars and stay somewhere nice."
"This place is a dump! If I could give no stars, would. We checked in came up to our room, and there were 4 chairs around the table. Came back from a night out, and there were only 3. Someone was in our room with no notice or permission. Made us feel very uncomfortable and unsafe from the beginning. Then, the next day, I asked for wash cloths at the front desk because our room only had 2. They had none, but told me when the wash was done they would bring them. Never came...so I called the next morning and there were none to be had. Didn't realize I needed to bring my own linens. We brought my 70+ YO mother along. I requested a handicapped room weeks before, but there were none. So, instead, they gave us a room with a water jet tub where she needs to step over a very high wall to get in. Now, I am risking a fall because they could not accommodate. . We paid over $800 for 3 nights in the offseason, and looking back will NEVER book with this hotel again. See pics below because they waste no time cleaning this place. Tidelands, you should care a little more... Patrons, do not believe what you see on the website!"
"I had a great time staying at Tidelands Caribbean in Ocean City, MD. The location is fantastic, right on the Boardwalk at 5th St. The room was clean and had plenty of space. It was a suite, so there was a king bed on one end, then a hallway with the kitchenette and bathroom, then in the main room another king bed with a fold out sofa, a small table with 4 chairs, and a balcony overlooking the street. There was some noise from loud cars and emergency vehicles, otherwise the room was very quiet. The pool with the pool bar was better than the rooftop pool, which is tiny and has no umbrellas for shade on the deck. The hotel was doing renovations to the lobby of our building, and I saw other work being done, such as painting and other cosmetic work. I would stay there again."
