"A tale of two Kyle’s We hired K.C landscaping and masonry to build a retaining wall around our newly installed above ground pool in the summer of 2021. The work was great, he was quick, even sent a video and pictures of the finished product when it was done (we were out of town when the project was completed). Very happy with his work we brought Kyle back in 2022 to redo a paver walkway, garden wall, paver patio and a deck expansion. This is when things went downhill. All four jobs were being done somewhat simultaneously (permitting for the deck took some time so stonework was started first). Kyle finished the walkway in May of 2022 but never completed the wall adjacent to the walkway. He never completed the patio extending beyond the deck (portion below the deck was completed in May). Construction of the deck started in August of 2022 and Kyle told us the other jobs would be completed while the deck was being done. At this point Kyle was paid in full for all of the stonework although the projects were not complete. We trusted his word that it would be done. Progress with the deck was very slow. The overall design wasn’t what we agreed to and throughout the project things were being taken off the statement of work without communication (picture frame design was missing initially, no joist tape on the beams). From September on there was little to no progress on the deck and no progress on the unfinished masonry jobs. In November, we were ready to cancel the deck contract. Kyle and Shantel requested a meeting to try and resolve the situation which we agreed to, not wanting to cancel. We provided Kyle and Shantel a list of 9 action items that needed to be rectified (specifically regarding the deck) given the feedback we received from the building inspector. We also requested a tentative completion date for the remaining projects. On November 15th, 2022, we were left with no choice but to terminate the deck contract after receiving no communication on a path forward from Kyle or Shantel (we agreed during our meeting that a week would be a sufficient timeframe to develop a gameplan). We cannot recommend Kyle given our experience in 2022, such a shame given the positives from the previous year. In total we paid Kyle and Shantel over $60,000 for what’s pictured below, you be the judge."
