UConn Center for Genome Innovation (CGI)

The UConn Center for Genome Innovation (CGI) is a cutting-edge institution located at 67 North Eagleville Road in Mansfield, Connecticut, United States. Established in 2014 within the Institute for Systems Genomics, the CGI is under the direction of Rachel O’Neill, a Professor of Molecular and Cell Biology. The CGI's mission is to provide advanced expertise in genome technologies and support genomics research for faculty and students across the University of Connecticut campuses.

With facilities on both the Storrs and Farmington campuses, the CGI serves as a hub for computational biology support and houses a range of genomics instrumentation, including microfluidics, arrays, and next-generation sequencing technology. The CGI offers support in the form of user access, hands-on assistance, training, and consultation.

The CGI provides various laboratory training opportunities, sample quality control, NextGen library preparation, sequencing, and genotyping services for UConn-affiliated researchers across all campuses. These services are also available to external users and for-profit companies. Additionally, the CGI offers workshops on NextGen sequencing applications such as RNA-Seq, amplicon sequencing, and ChIP-Seq, as well as free consultations for experimental design, budgeting, and troubleshooting.
