UConn Department of Animal Science

The UConn Department of Animal Science, located at 17 Manter Road in Mansfield, Connecticut, is part of the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources at the University of Connecticut. Established in 1881, the Department of Animal Science offers a comprehensive education in animal genetics/genomics, breeding, biotechnology, reproduction, growth biology, food safety, dairy production, equine science, meat chemistry, and more.

With over 400 undergraduate students and numerous graduate students, the Department provides hands-on learning opportunities with a variety of livestock including dairy and beef cattle, sheep, chickens, pigs, and horses all conveniently located on campus.
