"I went for an oil change on 11/11. Everything was fine and on the 25th something wasn't right when I was driving. When my check engine light came on, I checked my car's computer and i needed to check the oil level. The oil level was too high. If the oil level is too high there are air bubbles that can and will get into the pump and it can cause damage to the internal components such as the bearings for example, when the bearings arent properly lubricated they heat up and eventually the whole engine has to get replaced and im not about that, I then drained the oil and it was black like I drove a few thousand miles. I told them I needed plain oil but one of the mechanics kept saying synthetic when I asked a question. That already was confusing so I just kept my eye on the temperature gauge, just in case they did put in synthetic oil as the tolerances in my 98 camry are NOT DESIGNED for that type of oil. As I checked my engine for other things just to be sure oil got into my manifold and caused a clog so that my 4th cylinder wouldn't burn properly. As I was driving I felt a strange rumbling sound and my 4 cylinder was acting like a 3 cylinder because no air could get through. I had to clean various parts of my car AFTER MY FIRST oil change I asked a PROFRSSIONAL SERVICE to do for me, I never had to do any of that when I changed my oil single handedly. Everyone learn a little something about your car, check their work immediately after, and demand you see them change the oil in front of you. I know most people don't really care much but this can literally save you thousands in the long run. I'm fortunate enough to only spend $300 to fix the issue myself but if this continued for a few months I'd have to spend thousands or even get a new car. As the saying goes "if you want something done right, do it yourself". These people won't get another dime out of me."
