Reviews
"Huge manga selection. My husband and brother used to come with me to D&D nights. Wish we didn't have to stop going, but New London just got too chaotic for us to the point where we try to avoid the whole city as much as we can"
"What an amazing shop! There is such a variety of both new and vintage collectibles. The layout is beautifully put together. If you are looking for comics, cards, statues, posters, graphic novels, vintage/new toys, games, etc then you should definitely check this place out!!"
"** Summary: There is a large comic selection, the employees are friendly, but Joe (store owner) was crass and gross towards me, a frequent paying costumer, while I flipped through a 1,000 page long comic compendium. The owner made my friends and I uncomfortable with his unprovoked aggressiveness. I will never be returning to this store and will advise everyone I know to avoid his business. ** The employees are typically friendly. I was once a returning costumer, as I have bought multiple comics, and have brought over at least 10 friends, all new costumers, to this store due to the large comic selection. After yesterday, my friends and I will never be returning due to an incredibly nasty and ridiculously rude interaction with Joe, the store’s owner. After a very long day at Sailfest, supporting local businesses, I invited my friends over to the comic store while we waited for one of our favorite bars to open. I led my friends through the store and offered to pay for the comic he wanted. After guiding them, I decided to sit in a corner to rest as I had been walking around for at least 6 hours straight in the Festival, and my joint pain was flaring up. I quietly sat in a corner and decided to play with the idea of buying The Walking Dead Compendium Volume 1, which is over 1,000 pages. I had already bought the first chapter of the Walking Dead comic series from the store a few weeks before. Now, I decided to read about a few pages of the Compendium to decide if this was a worthy investment. It all seemed great as this also allowed my joints to rest for a few minutes while my friends finished up choosing comics, some of which I would help pay for. My boyfriend and my friend came to me after finishing choosing, and were able to witness how rude and classless Joe was with me after reading for a little less than 10 minutes. He stands less than 3 feet away from me saying “You cannot sit here and read comics, that’s not how this store works.” The look in Joe’s eye was threatening but I decided to respond kindly anyway by telling him “Oh I’m just reading a bit of the Compendium-“ to which he cuts me off by saying “I know what it is.” I’m very jarred by his aggressiveness as it is unprovoked and I continue saying “Yes I’m just reading a bit to see if it’s worth it.” He responds by lying and saying I had been “reading for over 15 minutes” and that I “can’t come into the store and not pay for anything.” I clarify and say that “I’m a returning costumer and that me and all of my friends are about to buy many comics altogether.” His response, with a smile on his face as if to mock me, was “That’s great, you cannot just read the comics.” Employees have never harassed me for flipping through comics because they see me buy them. That day, I saw several people reading through comics for several minutes (which makes sense as this allows us to see if we’re interested in buying) but I seemed to be the main costumer that was harassed, perhaps because I was sitting? Not sure. I stared back at him, dumbfounded at his treatment of paying costumers that are giving him business and after several seconds he told me (referencing my dumbfounded stare) that “he doesn’t care about my attitude.” All with a smirk on his face, as if to show that he enjoys harassing QUIET and PAYING costumers that are not bothering anyone in a pretty empty store. I sarcastically told him that he is a wonderful business man with incredible costumer service, and neatly put back the Compendium. My friends and I paid for the comics that we chose, because we are costumers with CLASS, and I told Joe, as I walked out the store, that I would be writing him a review that reflects his attitude but he chose to ignore me - all with that condescending smile, once again. I am friendly costumer so I have never been treated with such crass by any store owner before in my life. I feel bad for his employees, as I’m sure they don’t get paid enough to put up with his gross, juvenile and insensitive behavior."
"Was in town visiting and was recording a video for a friend who likes Harry Potter and Zelda of a small section in the store with my phone, the owner then walked by and passive aggressively said “usually people ask before they record in the store” I say oh and begin to apologize and he continues to be passive aggressive about the fact I recorded making the situation uncomfortable (I was trying to see if my friend would like me to pick anything up) so I have left without purchasing anything and won’t be back. Every bad review seems to be about the owner as well, I’m sure the staff are great or he would have more negative reviews. I have attached the video, obviously I stopped recording as soon as he said something because I don’t normally record things and it made me uncomfortable."
"Selection: Great Everything Comic and things of that nature Customer Service: Great Very Helpful in helping me find what I was looking for Prices: Great Nothing was over priced and I bought two items. Everyone please come and support them. I would hate for this to close down. My suggestions is to have more community events here or weekly events to get more business. Maybe there is but from what I could tell I couldn't see any planned events. If there is I would love the link to have a reason to check them out every week."
