Reviews of Quest Diagnostics Old Saybrook
"Seemed to be one woman operating the place. She was friendly and careful. Went in within 10 minutes of my scheduled appointment."
"I made an appointment online and was taken in on time. In and out of there in minutes! I agree with other reviews that it is not "cozy" feeling there tho. There's no friendly face to greet you or answer any questions when you enter. You check in through your phone or Kiosk and wait till the phlebotomist comes and gets you. Everything looks plain and worn, it's a bright green inside like it used to be an H&R Block before. So anyway I would go again it was quick and easy but I like Middlesex better."
"NO STAR review. Last week I had a rotten experience in Old Saybrook Quest. I needed blood work done as I was in extreme pain and went there as a walk in. Was able to be put in 'stand-by', waited an hour before one of the workers told me they were not taking walk ins because of a packed schedule. So - why allow people to walk in without an appointment and not let them know - at the kiosk - that they wouldn't accept any walk ins? Even a printed sign would be helpful, since the workers clearly don't want to speak to the publics if they don't have to. The workers were fairly rude, completely unwelcoming. The waiting area was bland, with a 'hydration station' with cups stacked on top of the water cooler ( it looks like the cup dispenser was once affixed to the dingy walls). The TV volume was super loud which didn't help my migraine. While sitting there, I made an appointment in the Guilford office. There I had a calm experience and was happy that I was able to get an appointment in after an awful experience in Old Saybrook."
"After having my Doctor request that I go to Quest Diagnostics for my bloodwork, I attempted to contact them on the phone, but the A.I. phone tree was impenetrable to reach a person. So I drove to the Old Saybrook office and walked in. I entered a room that eerily reminded me of a Soviet Block medical facility with about 25 straight back chairs lined up against the walls, a high security door with a push button combination lock and a window with a desk and chair visible on the other side. After waiting a few minutes in front of the window, I realized that it was a leftover from the days before Artificial Intelligence came into our lives to help us and my only means of communicating with Quest was a touchpad computer screen against a wall which I then attempted to satisfy, scanning all sides of my driver’s license and insurance cards, as a line formed behind me. I then sat under the bright lights staring in silence at a drinking fountain with a label on the wall telling me it was a Hydration Station. The room filled and cleared twice, but I was never called. Did I not fill out the touch pad computer forms correctly? How long will I wait before or IF someone would tell me of a problem? Ah finally, a security breech! The last patient left the steel door wide open. Now maybe I could ask for some help. As I approached the door, very careful not to cross the invisible barrier into the testing area, I could see a long, dirty hallway with a large gray electrical service panel at the end like my house has in the cellar with janitorial equipment propped up against the wall. I patiently waited in the doorway listening to the conversations about getting 10% higher pay if they worked Saturdays. It became evident that they completed the company’s necessary 3 patient transactions an hour and it was now “me time”. After 15 minutes, still standing at the door reading a large sign telling me of my “rights”, with one promising “I will get you some help” by an employee that scooted across the hall from one room to another and now 2 other people waiting behind me, a person came and explained that I was a walk-in and would only get tested if they had time to fit me into the 3 transactions each hour. That was it for me and my comrades at Quest, I went as I usual did, to Middlesex in Westbrook, was met by 3 fully staffed windows, processed quickly and moved onto the waiting room with a TV, carpet and large cushioned chairs like my living room and was back in my car in less than 20 minutes! God Bless the USA"
"I had an appointment scheduled 1/25/23 @ 3:20pm that was confirmed and was called by Sherri from the location that they wanted to close due to the storm and if I could come the next day. Sherri indicated 9:30am was available but made a mistake and was on the day prior but said to come in and just let the staff know she said to come in. I am a working professional and have commitments based on my work schedule so I except to be seen at the least after everyone that is checked in has passed. I was informed to log in as a standby, of which you can see from all of the other negative post standby is not very efficient. After the last client of the posted being seen showed left from the back was when the staff started to see more client's. I am sure more goes on in the back but I think a serious look at how work is being done completed needs to be reviewed. At the very least efficiency of how patients are being seen. If I was willing to give up my scheduled appointment to allow the office to close due to a potential weather issue, I would hope I could be better recieved by someone actually maintaining a desk in the front."
