"You gotta be really careful at this school. A tree on campus snapped in half from the root totaled my car and I hurt my wrist pretty bad. I thought the school would be helpful instead the schools lawyer said if I call his office I will be put under review of academic code of conduct. The school offered nothing for nearly killing me and totaling my car. The school informed my teachers a tree on campus had fell and I couldn’t make it to class but they failed to inform my teachers a tree fell on me. Jo-Ann Robinson kept telling me the school would help in some way but at the end of the day once the time has passed for me to sue the school they immediately disregarded me. Adam Haney is the schools attorney that was supposed to help me instead he just threatened me academically because the school almost killed me. Really poorly maintained property I wouldn’t say it’s safe for students."
"My son is a sophomore. He really satisfied with their education systems. They provide very competitive courses in various periods. And surely good professors also."
"SUNY Old Westbury My 2nd Home from 89 to 93! I don't know where to begin all I can say is this place was 100% instrumental in my lyfe! I have the greatest memories and resilent past times..93!!!Rho Rhose Angie"
"The bad reviews are outdated - the school has done a lot to improve the campus for both residents and commuters. I transferred here 2 years ago from a different school, and am really so happy with my decision. The campus is beautiful and makes you forget that you're still on Long Island. You'll find some professors you don't love anywhere, but to my surprise I've met some of the best I've ever had (better than the private school I transferred from) Making friends as a commuter could be hard for some, but the people I've met here are kinder and friendlier than anywhere else I've been. Yes, some of the buildings are a bit run down, and yes the school doesn't have an A++ reputation. But it really defied my expectations for a lesser known SUNY school. If you're debating it, just know a bunch of people in your position were also just as skeptical - it's not that bad :)"
"I love the professors and my classes. The dorms are okay. The dryers never worked and there were always floods in hall 5 because girls flooded the bathrooms. I wish the cafe food were better. Edit: Bursar has slower paced workers. If you have a question for bursar, res life, or registrar, they'll tell you go to res life or bursar, and no one can answer the question. The cafe food is not that great, so it is not worth the $10. The Starbucks is a knock off Starbucks, so do not expect Starbucks quality drinks from the Atrium. They also do not sell all of the Starbucks drinks as they are not a corporate Starbucks. The school shuttle bus should run more. Also, many students take longer than four years to finish undergrad as the school messes up the schedules. If you want advice from someone that finished in 3 years rather than four: if you have a 3.5 or higher GPA for a semester, you can take course overloads where you take 5 classes rather than the 4. Also, use your degree audit to keep track of the classes you need! Your advisor will assist you, but you should do the work yourself as well and see what classes you need left."
