"Love paddling the canoe trail. Start at Holland Pond to go with the current to Quabog Pond. Not a strong current, but might be difficult for kids to paddle that far going upstream (5 miles). Stay safe wear a PFD."
"First time kayaking a river? This is a great place to start. Holland Pond is the upstream launch. Most of the river is easy to navigate with minimal obstacles and a gentle pace. There are several rest spots to stop and enjoy the natural beauty. The river runs north from Holland Pond towards the East Brimfield Lake and Long Pond."
"Scenic lazy river paddling. A little weedy in late July but still passable. 3.5 miles lake to lake. Many different land, water & air animals including never. Rest beach spots along the way with benches and place to stretch the legs and relieve a numb bum. :-)"
"This is a wonderful float. The water flow is pretty reliable, even in the dry autumn. Clear water and lots of wildlife... today we saw two kingfisher and a bald eagle. The water flows enough to take you downstream at a leisurely pace, but is easy to paddle against going upstream. There are a few nice rest areas to pull out on along the way, a couple with primative benches and unofficial fire pits. No restrooms. Some stretches are fairly choked with fanwort, but nothing you can't paddle through. Water trail map is available online through Army Corp of Engineers website, I believe. The boat landings are marked in Google maps."
"It is about 4 miles to go one way, 8 miles round-trip. We are novice kayakers so it was a good place to go for us. We went a little over halfway, based on a GPS snapshot. Nice wavy stream with some sights to view. Current was light, easy to navigate."
