Gardner Lake State Park
About the Business
Gardner Lake State Park is a charming park located at 208 Old Colchester Road in Salem, Connecticut. This park is a popular tourist attraction for those who enjoy fishing, boating, and swimming. With its main feature being the 528-acre Gardner Lake, visitors can spend the day on the water fishing, paddling, or water skiing. The park also offers boat-only access to Minnie Island State Park, perfect for those looking to explore and have a little adventure.
One interesting fact about Gardner Lake State Park is that in the winter of 1895, a grocer from the town attempted to move his house across the frozen lake, only for it to crack through the ice and eventually sink. The upper levels of the house remained above water, resembling a lighthouse, and became a popular spot for children to fish and skate through in the winter.
For those looking to fish, Gardner Lake offers a variety of fish species including bass, crappie, and catfish. Boat speeds on the lake are limited to 6 mph from sunset to 8:00 a.m., making it a peaceful and relaxing environment for all visitors. Picnic tables and grills are available near the parking lot, making it a great spot to enjoy a meal and take in the natural beauty of the park.
Whether you're looking to relax on the beach, explore Minnie Island, or enjoy a day of fishing on the lake, Gardner Lake State Park is the perfect destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Don't forget to check the latest conditions and fishing regulations before heading out for a day of fun in the sun!

Reviews
"Very Clean, respectful. Comfortable Environment, Safe"
"People make a huge mess when they come there. Luckily the state has people who clean it well. No lifeguard. People drinking and smoking pot. You definitely need to watch your kid closely. Sand mixed with rocks and patches of dirt and grass. Outhouses... no real restrooms or changing areas. Water is pretty clear. Gets crowded but not to bad."
"Good place for fishing and kayaking. Green area seemed spacious and well maintained. Minnie island is a short trip from the boat launch. It is not super easy to get on to the island but if you go to the North side where the sign is there is a steep trail and some rocks that make it easier to get on. At the top of the island there are some nice rocks and flat ground for sitting. However, there are a lot of bugs."
"It's good just wish it was bigger had sand and more shade. But is not bad. When the weather is nice the water is warmer than the ocean and not salty. Also sunset are nice here. There's no lifeguard, so u can bring ur toys here. Also you can use boats and go around the lake if you wish too."
