"Nice weather equals no eagles. They give u that tidbit when u show up. Don't waste your time."
"They're open seasonally, this year started 12/23/23 till sometime in March. Must make reservations online = very easy to do, what day do you want to go, how many people. Opens 9 am-1pm. Some days have guest speakers with some speakers bringing their rescued or injured owls, hawks, or maybe an eagle. Volunteers are very knowledgeable & friendly. There's an outside area & a covered observation cabin. Scopes & binoculars are free to use. A great couple of hours to share with kids, friends, or treat your mom/dad, grandparents, to a unique experience!"
"Fun family experience. The staff is very helpful with how they set up the scopes to see the eagles in the trees. Don’t expect to get close to the eagles - I recommend bringing your own binoculars as well so you can follow the eagles flying around. A limited number of people can visit at a time, so be sure to make a reservation in advance. I recommend going when there is also a show by the CT Audubon Society because then you can get up close to and learn about the different types of birds and owls they bring with them."
"Very nice experience to see our nation’s symbol in its natural environment. Staff very friendly and helpful. Went for a couple of hours. Well worth the trip and it’s free. Be sure to make your reservation at least the day before."
"During the winter months this place is open as an eagle observation area. During the summer months is open to fishing, canoeing, kayaking, picnicking, and hiking. There are no facilities here aside from a porta potty, a few picnic tables, and some grills. It is located at the shepaug dam on Lake Zoar. I fish here a few times every summer and it is usually a very good spot!"
