Reviews
"Considering the wilderness, the parking spot is limited. No restrooms. Bit a very good hiking site, moderate terrain and scenic."
"I agree with the previous comment... Definitely 7+ miles which will give you a workout, with ups and downs. But also a very interesting hike with water views, waterfall (if lucky) and a nice forest. When you are done, you are happy to see the car. I definitely recommend carrying a map with you, as the many shortcuts will take you to different parking areas which you might not want. Waterfall was practically dry this time."
"Zoar trail was definitely advanced, definitely almost three hours, and definitely 7 miles! ( if you don’t take shortcuts and do the whole loop). If you start from the right side you will first see the beautiful lake on your right hand side as you “goat” walk around the ledge up and down, through raised roots and balancing on rocks. As you continue into the woods a lot more balancing on rocks, narrow paths, and a huge and very steep climb. Bring your hiking shoes and water! But it will be worth it once you see your car again. You can say I did it!! Ps. There is a beautiful waterfall not specifically on trail but it’s paved down so you can definitely see your way to it and back to the trail without the worry of getting lost. Also the trail is marked perfectly! And they make complete sense when it comes to turning right or left. In the end if you are up for an adventure do this trail you will kick yourself during it asking whyyyyyy but in the end you’ll be happy with accomplishing the trail!"
"Park is OK for forest walk. We took Zoar trail and it was very challenging. In case you tired there are no connectors to shorten your trail. So plan on advance and be prepared."
"End of great quarter rd in newtown CT is the trail head for the zoar trail. We hiked for 7.6 miles in a loop. Moderate hike(not easy). Plenty of ups and downs. Trail passes by a nice brook, to prydden falls, passes by hillsides covered with moss and ferns which looks stunning!!!"
