"Hiked here twice now, you can see the evidence of forest management, it is a lovely forest with great diversity of species, Amazing geological features, A decent view all around a good time."
"Conveniently located state forest with some nice views of the mountains and neat mountain biking trails and obstacles. Can be very difficult to navigate without a map or GPS. I've gotten lost on more than one occasion. The peak on the valley outlook blue/white trail overlooks mountains to the west. The campsite can be found off the yellow-blue trail just a couple of minutes northwest or to the right of the intersection with blue/white. Trail markings are freshly painted, though there are also gravel roads or side trails which are not marked."
"I love coming here to walk it's just the right distance not so far that you're finding yourself fatigued but long enough that you could have nice solid walk. What I really love it's nice and flat and it's a very picturesque. The dam and the reservoir are absolutely beautiful and I can't help but take pictures every time I come. It's a really wonderful place to come and take a walk and it's never overly busy and you can always find parking."
"Review of reservoir: two parking lots, one off of Town Bridge Road in Canton, the other off Route 202 in New Hartford. Newly paved flat path with partial shade and views of reservoir, especially from dam. Easy to traverse from one parking lot to the other, but this is not a 'loop'; round trip is 1.9 miles. Very wide path accommodates cyclists & pedestrians. I enjoy walking while my kids ride scooters. Lovely vistas & bird watching. Lots of evergreen trees. No restrooms. Not lit in the evening. No access to water. No picnic tables. No trash bins. Dog walking is permitted, but you must clean up. MDC security regularly monitors."
