Haystack Mountain State Park
About the Business
Haystack Mountain State Park, located in Norfolk, Connecticut, is a popular destination for hikers and nature enthusiasts. The park features a winding mountain road and a challenging trail that leads to a 34-foot-high stone tower at the summit. From the top, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the Berkshires, Massachusetts, New York, and the Green Mountains of Vermont. In the fall, the park is a great spot to witness the vibrant colors of autumn foliage, while in the early summer, the mountain laurel blooms in a beautiful display.
The stone tower at the summit was built in 1929 and once featured a beacon light, although it is no longer in operation. Visitors can choose to hike up the road and take the trail to the top, or follow the yellow trail that loops back to the park entrance. The park offers two well-marked trails, including a two-mile paved road and a rocky, mile-long Tower Loop Trail.
After a hike, visitors can enjoy a picnic lunch by the pond or at the designated picnic areas. In the winter, Haystack Mountain State Park is a popular destination for cross-country skiers. Whether you visit in the warmer months or during the snowy season, Haystack Mountain State Park offers a peaceful retreat and stunning natural beauty for all to enjoy.

Reviews
"I've been hiking here since I was a kid and still make it a must visit place every fall! The views from the top are breathtaking, and the hike is doable for most adults and kids without complications, with it being not too long and only a few steep parts. My 5 year old had no issues with making it to the top. There's a bathroom at the bottom and free parking! Yesterday was raining and foggy so it was limited view wise but still worth the hike up to the top!"
"Quick hike with great views!"
"Beautiful easy hike. Great look out tower. Family friendly, would recommend getting there early as gate are closed so parking bis limited."
"The hike up if your a newbie will have you complaining, once you reach the castle up 3 flights it's worth all the complaints. I didn't want to leave, the scenery the breeze was absolutely wonderful"
