"I decided to purchase a replacement hot tub cover from Leslie's because a lot of the other companies had bad reviews about disreputable business practices. In turns out Leslie's was far worse than anything I read about the other companies. I had a promo code that wasn't working, so I called and a customer service representative promised that I would get a 10% discount if I placed the order online and then called back (he gave me a reference number). He said he confirmed this with his manager (after placing me on hold for 30 minutes). After I placed the order and called back, I was told that they could not honor the 10% discount that had been promised (after another 25 minutes of hold time). Apparently, the first representative had been confused about company policy -- as was his manager. I tried to argue that if they made a promise (which they acknowledged), they should stand by it, but all they could do was apologize and refuse. Then, they said they would "try to cancel the order" that I had just placed and would let me know within 48 hours -- adding that it might not be possible to cancel. Who conducts business like this. I would never shop with Leslie's again!"
"We purchased a new pool heater from Leslie's last fall and paid for a Leslie's technician to install the unit. On the installation day, a fellow from Deluxe Pool service showed up to install the heater instead of a Leslie's technician. The first issue was he asked us for payment and we had to direct him to speak with Leslie's because we already paid for the installation. He proceeded to install but told us that there was a problem with the propane valve and we had to get our provider to fix the valve. We had the propane company check it and we were told it was fine. We asked Leslie's to send a technician and they said we had to get the installer to come back. After repeated calls, he finally showed up and checked the system and said that it was an issue with the Jandy heater and to call for warranty service. This proved very difficult to get someone to come but finally in October a Jandy certified technician came and fixed the incorrect wiring. We had to pay 300 extra for the service because it wasn't a warranty issue! Leslie's took no responsibility at any point! After opening the pool this spring, we found a further problem that the temperature sensor was installed in the wrong location effecting the ability to heat the pool! Another 300 bill! Leslie's was a complete waste of time!"
"Love this store, staff very helpful. Hate the corporate, pain to set up pool closings."
"The manager Mike comes off as a little grumpy, but it's all an act. He was extremely knowledgeable and polite. I would buy from this particular location again & again."
"The manager is very helpful. He listens and gives good advice about your pool. They have a little machine that gives water testing results in seconds. Very little waiting time to ask any questions. I live in Harrison NY but I rather drive to Stamford CT. A little out of the way, but worth the drive."
