"After having a low water pressure issue for some time, we called the plumber who had worked in our facility for decades. The leak was somewhere between the MDC service pit and the main shut off in our building. Complicating the matter was the fact that additions to the building were poured right over top of the water line so locating the leak was no simple matter. Plumber 1's suggestion was to just run a new service line diagonally across the front lawn to a basement area in the front part of the building and then run new copper pipe across 1/2 the building and connect it to the main shutoff. It took 2 months to come to that decision and quoted us the price of a very nice used car. At that point I called Santabono's (sorry I didn't the first time since I know the owner but didn't know he did commercial plumbing). He came at it from an entirely different standpoint, let's find that leak. He and one of his guys spent the first partial day replacing barely functional shut offs and pressurizing the line to isolate the leak, confirming the leak was between the shut-off and the MDC meter (Plumber 1 thought that but never did anything to confirm it). He then got the MDC to set up an emergency CBYD to get the utilities marked off. The next day he showed up with his excavation contractor and started digging right where the water line passed under the foundation. And found water. After more excavation, a series of cuts to remove damaged sections of pipe and installing temporary shut-offs in order to pressurize the pipe to find leaks, he found at least 3 more. All outside of the building. They ended up excavating the full distance from the MDC service pit and the front of the building and replaced the corroded galvanized pipe (which was supposed to be copper when it was replaced in the early 80's) with new 1" copper pipe. Santabono's took the time to actually find the problem rather than just saying we had to put in a new service. We've got better water pressure than we've had in decades, our water bills are a fraction of what they had been and it cost us a fraction of what Plumber 1 wanted to charge us. Honest and dependable. We've got a new plumber on our contact list!"
