"Today I went to get my ring resized (make it smaller). The guy agreed to do it for 100$ and he said it will take half hour. I came back in 30 min it was done, right size, everything ok. I asked him about piece that he cut out and he said that he’s not giving it back because he’s shaving the ring, not cutting ( never heard of it before and it doesn’t make any sense) So I paid and left, but I’m just wondering if it’s right? I used to get my rings resizes before and the procedure was following: weight the ring in front of me, resize it, and then at pick up, weight the ring again with the piece that was cut out, weights should match and I take everything home. As far as I know that’s the way to handle gold. Also price for resizing a bit ridiculous but I needed to get it done fast so I’m not complaining about it. Very unpleasant experience ☹️"
