Schnitzels

"Great little place in Stony Brook. Menu had authentic german items on the menu. Good Beer selection ( Hofbräu) on tap unfortunately no Hefeweizen. Food was ok. If you call your self Schnitzel’s than your Schnitzel should be outstanding and not over cooked/ dry and almost black and dry. Schnitzel in germany are also Pan fried not deep fried! The redcabbage was good the spätzle okra not sure why there was another vegetable under The schnitzel. I ordered the traditional Wiener Schnitzel and it came with a sauce on top….. not sure why this isn’t traditional… My wife had the Rahm Schnitzel and the meat was over fried too the sauce was great. The kids had spätzle mac&cheese and they liked it. The appetizer wheel was cool too. Unfortunately the only have Entree ( like rouladen, sauerbraten etc) starting at 4pm At this point I am not sure if I would recommend it or go back since I am still disappointed about the schnitzels…"

"Great Pub Style Atmosphere. We had the Schnitzel, Rouldaden, Potato Pancakes and Poutine. All delicious. Wide selection of Draft Beer and Cocktails. Menu has Apps, Flatbreads, Sandwiches, Entrees etc. Resonable Pricing, good food."

"This place was great. It took the spot of a former deli and since it is within 100 feet of a church, they can't technically sell hard liquor. They have an extensive beer and wine menu and they have great mixed beer drinks (they use grape-based liquor). The beer I had was the best beer drink I ever had. Delicious. The food was simple but out of this world. Schnitzel and brats. Potato pancakes. Yum, all homemade. Even the apple butter was to die for. Very cozy. No reservations, just show up. Had a twenty minute wait. It was packed. A good ole warm and cozy bar and restaurant. Tell 'em Barsnobs sent ya!"

"My husband and I finally were able to try out schnitzel’s! Every time we’ve tried before the wait was insane so we were really happy to get a spot at the bar. Our server/ bartender was friendly and informative. The atmosphere was really good, everyone was enjoying themselves. The music was interesting and honestly wished there was German music playing we watched the playlist and maybe one German song came on during the hour and a half we were there. Overall the food was really delicious and we enjoyed ourselves! We started with the giant pretzel which was warm and fresh. Though It was served with honey spicy mustard which wasn’t great. Then my husband had the sauerbraten and I had the pork rahmschnitzel. Both were super hot and fresh tasting! My husbands only complaint about his was that his didn’t come with red cabbage. I loved my rahmschitzel, It was really crispy and the sauce was delicious. (Though looking at the pictures of the same dish it looks different??) but the flavors were on point. We both wished that It came with more mixed vegetables then green beans. Other pictures showed carrots? I understand this is new restaurant so It takes awhile to find groove. Now to the big disappointment. We ordered the Black Forest cake for dessert and I’m not sure what happened… but that was NOT Black Forest cake. It looked like a carrot cake but tasted like butterscotch?? It had strawberries on the side instead of cherries and the cake itself tasted nothing like Black Forest cake. I really hope they change that because that was just a shock. We will definitely be back but won’t be ordering the cake again."

"A place where you will want to come again! A great place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, a cup of coffee with dessert, both for meeting friends and family and evening get-togethers with friends. A bit noisy for a formal business meeting during lunch.. The atmosphere is cozy. I also liked the dishes and menu design. The food is varied, for all tastes. I really liked the eggplant schnitzel. The dish is well balanced. The portion was too big for me, but I ate it all because it was delicious! I would also like to say thank you for the pleasant, friendly service and for the yummy Black Forest dessert. Really delicious! Definitely recommend this restaurant."
