Reviews of Carmine's Italian Deli & Cafe
"This is one of the most unique experiences in Westchester County. A hidden gem for the uninitiated, Deli by day, music dinner theater by night. Rob the owner is a gem, by extension his employees, they are kind and courteous. Just the thought of having a live music venue in a deli is unique and brilliant! Great musical artists and delicious food prove to be a surefire combination for success. By day or by night you will be impressed by Carmines…"
"For lunch, I decided to indulge in an Italian Combo today. Being a fan of robust flavors, I prefer my Italian heroes to have a spicy kick. Therefore, I kindly requested if I could swap the sweet peppers for cherry peppers. The staff member assured me that it was no trouble at all. However, when my wife picked up the sandwich, my enthusiasm waned upon discovering that the meat portion on my hero seemed somewhat lacking. To make matters worse, instead of the anticipated burst of heat from cherry peppers, it appeared that they had run out and, in a peculiar substitution, opted for pickled jalapeños on the other side of the sandwich. I must say, pickled jalapeños have no place on an authentic Italian sub. To add a dash of disappointment, I noticed an additional charge labeled as 'hot peppers' on the bill. At a hefty $18, this sad sandwich seemed overpriced, leaving me with the distinct feeling that it did not quite measure up to the anticipated value. If you're looking for a deli go elsewhere."
"The sandwich was bland, a little dry. I got a pasta lunch special and it was super oily. The food was not great. The deli has tons of seating, it was a little cold in there. The staff was nice."
"I wanted to start off by saying that I was surprised by how the service was in this place, I thought it would have been top notch but boy was I wrong. My co-workers and I had ordered sandwiches and not only were they wrong but took 45 minutes to make and on top of that the owner was nasty would told us we did not need a bag. Basically was upset with us that we were wondering if our sandwiches were done, so they rushed to get sandwiches done and they were very small and also had hair in the sandwich. So with being said I suggest never going there if you havent."
"We stopped to have lunch at Carmines on our way home from Atlantic City and what a great choice! It was easy to find, not too far off of the highway, and plenty of free parking. The owner greeted us personally and our waitress was amazing. The food, absolutely what you’d expect from an authentic Italian NY deli. Fresh quality meats, extensive menu, and ingredients that I haven’t had in my cooked meals since my grandmother cooked for me - she was from Italy! So delicious and there was a steady flow of regular customers coming in for takeout while we were there. We also had the pleasure of listening to live jazz music throughout our meal. The owner surprised us with two plates of assorted pastries on the house. He was touched that we were a party of six, all extended family and traveling together, and seemingly enjoying it. The owner got up and sang along with the musician on stage and he was really good! So glad we picked Carmines for our lunch stop, what a great place where we shared more memorable moments and enjoyed some of the most authentic Italian food we’ve had in a restaurant!"
