"It saddens me to have to write this review as I have considered myself a fan of Bedford stone for almost a decade. I found their customer service to be very decent and kind especially in the run-up to superstorm Irene, when I was very desperate for sandbags. It was that reason why I always went to them first if I needed any gravel or rock. This year my driveway was ready for more gravel and my landscaper requested that I purchase it directly so I made the order without hesitation as I had always had a trustful relationship with this company. Yesterday I took delivery of the driveway gravel with my Landscaper present at the time and it was immediately apparent that I did not receive the 5 yards I had paid for. I Immediately asked the driver why the order was short and he told me to call the office. When I called the office I was encouraged that the front office immediately went to look at a video of the rock being loaded and I had every trust in the world that the situation would be fixed. My landscaper who was there at the time of delivery as well estimated that they only delivered 3.5 out of 5 yards. Since then I have been repeatedly told that I don’t know what I am talking about and neither does my landscaper. I explained that I was a fan of the store and wanted to work things out and instead found that the owner only wanted to argue about the ways that she was right and all of her customers who have suggested the same as I did were wrong. Quite literally she said that people regularly apologize to her for this suggestion that they are not delivering the quantity that a customer purchases. In an attempt to work things out I remeasured my driveway and sent her a photo of the original delivery and the depth of the gravel once it was applied by landscaper. I was told by her that one yard should cover approximately 300 ft.² My driveway is only 680 ft.² but I rounded out to 700 ft.² just to be fair. At 1 inch depth according to her measurements I should have been able to cover my entire driveway with only 2.3 yards. Which ironically matches previous gravel purchases I have made. This means that I should have had at least twice as much needed to get the job done , if I had received the full shipment. I even took the extra step of letting her know that I would purchase more rock from her for another landscape project but that I wanted the extra yard and a half included in the second order. She quite literally said she did not care if I ordered from her again. To put it bluntly She just didn’t care at all to try and make it right. At worst I paid for twice as much as I received at best I am missing about a third. Also their delivery fee is twice as much as another company just down the block from them, so Unfortunately this company that I once had so much respect for will now no longer be get any of my garden budget."
