"[Update 9/2023] A few months ago I noticed Garlic had removed the "Buffet" from their sign and went in to check things out, since changing your signage is usually an indicator of greater change within. I was not mistaken. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by Diana, server & co-owner, with whom I conversed briefly regarding the perceived changes. I ordered the Pernil entree which this time around was perfectly cooked, tender, juicy and obviously seasoned for a couple days in the fridge. The rice and beans were beautifully presented and perfectly cooked, with a rush of savory goodness from the beans from the first forkful to the last bean. I've returned frequently since, hooked on the Nana Chicken special (highly recommend this) and an old favorite, Pollo Saltado; a wonderful Peruvian dish I enjoyed for years at Fiesta in Stamford and missed greatly. I've left my original text intact because I need you to understand what a huge change these folks accomplished in a few short months. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. -----Original review----- I wanted very much for this place to impress me. It failed miserably. The red beans looked like they sat overnight, the black beans not so much as a hint of garlic or onions. The rice was flavorless, with peas and carrots inexplicably peppered throughout the white rice. The beef “stew” was tough and undercooked, as, I imagine, the chicken version. Overall this place has the air of “I’ve always dreamed if having a restaurant” executed by someone who had no idea what a challenge cooking at scale is. I didn’t like it, I can’t recommend it, I certainly wont visit again. It’s a shame that the Favi that was there previously didn’t last. They were head and shoulders above whatever Garlic’s owners are going for here."

"came into the establishment at 3pm on a thursday and was dead empty. lady at the counter has great customer service 10/10 and was very welcoming. food was awesome and more people should come even though they just opened up. Naugatuck needs more places like this."

"My co-workers and I decided to order takeout from here for lunch and we were completely blown away by how good the food was! The quality was amazing and everything was super tasty. The receptionist whom took our order was very accommodating for my friend whom is a vegetarian and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. The arepa was absolutely amazing the only thing I would say about it is that the cheese was mostly centralized instead of being throughout the entire arepa. The steak for the steak tortas was cooked to perfection so much so that I didn’t even finish it all because of how full I got and was able to heat it up in the air fryer when I got home and it still tasted absolutely amazing. The bread was so fresh and soft for the Tortas ordered. I will say that the only reason I did not give 5 stars is because I didn’t go to eat-in but will update once I return and have a 2nd experience. All in all I do recommend this restaurant for a tasty bite!"

"When I tell you how much I adore this restaurant I need you to realize how deeply I feel this. I feel in love with their pork belly during lock downs when I got them delivered on DoorDash.since then I’ve ordered many times and eaten in twice. Everyone is soooo nice, the environment is calm, comfortable and pleasant. Today we went for lunch and my bf had the steak burrito, I had bandeja paisa and we got the guacamole and chips to share (pics attached) . Everything was delicious. My only regrets are with my own stomach for not being able to finish my food! Not complaining really, those left overs are going to be a great breakfast! 10 out of 10 stars, I recommend this restaurant to everyone who enjoys Spanish American cuisine and finds themselves hungry in Naugatuck!"
