Amsterdam Hotel

"Basic, not fancy, and a GREAT place to stay! The staff is super-sweet, the rooms are clean and everything works. I like a firm bed so it was perfect for me. Sure, some people might prefer a more recently renovated hotel, but if you are like me, and don’t really care so much about that, then stay here. And the price is right!"

"This is a very budget-friendly hotel. All types of people come here, whether it be on a business trip, family trip [to go see NYC], students who are here for interviews, etc. Of course, it could use some renovations, but it gets the job done. Plus, free continental breakfast every morning (the food is actually quite good)!"

"I initially picked this hotel based on its high reviews, and it paid off. When you book a budget place, you always wonder how it's actually going to be, but after 2 stays, I feel comfortable saying that it is a great value. Both of my rooms have been reasonably clean. The first room I was given faced the interstate, so when I booked the second time I was given a room a little further away, and it made a difference. When I chatted with the staff, they were helpful. They informed me about the train service into NYC; the Port Chester station is only a couple miles away, so that is now my primary way to go downtown when I visit. If you're simply looking for a comfortable place to sleep and don't need a bunch of amenities, give the Amsterdam a try."

"I checked-in because I am working in night shifts in a nearby hospital. My first morning was okay but my room was next to the street so I was hearing alot of construction works. Ichecked in at nov 8 and paid extra 50% of the fee so I could check out few hours later than their checkout time the next day (nov 9) at 5pm. Nov 9 I came from work to sleep in the morning around 9am from a 13hr shift and kept the “Do not disturb sign” so no one would wake me up. Again I had a hard time sleeping because of all the noise but I was able to sleep around 10am. At 11:45am someone knocked and was shouting to open the door, he told me to checkout in a disrespectful manner (really felt like kicking me out of the room). I told him I paid extra 50% to checkout at a later time and he was still rude and told me to call front desk knowing that the guy is their housekeeping. He shouldn’t be treating customers that way! I spoke to front desk Patricio and he was sorry about it. I was suppose to check in again the next week again for work but I would never want that to happen again. Will find another hotel with respectful staffs."

"Like many people indicate, the hotel definitely needs renovations, etc. And the breakfast could be improved. However, you get what you pay for, and the price is extremely reasonable. My room was very large actually and the bed was reasonably comfortable, although it needed replacing."
