My fiancé and I wanted to share the truly upsetting and unsettling experience we had at Feather Hill Inn in Pomfret this weekend. We stayed at the rental property with our 2022 wedding party as it was less than 15 minutes from Allen Hill Farm. We think it is incredibly important to share our experience with you all as it truly impacted our mental health and has completely ruined the “day after” our wedding. Thankfully, the actually wedding day was not ruined, just borderline awful. Kai Kunz is the property manager of the rental property and from the moment of signing the contract on, it was difficult to get in touch with him. We sent the rental contract on 1/13 and after not hearing back fo over 10 days, I commented on the deposit we paid via Venmo for the space saying, “wanted to make sure that we are all set for 9/15 to 9/18. I sent an email on 1/13 but have not heard back yet.” The only piece of confirmation information I received for our booking was a “yes your all set” via a comment on the Venmo deposit on which I had commented. He refused to answer any emails regarding out stay despite the email being listed as a method of contact. When we arrived at our rental on Thursday afternoon, the first thing we noticed was that the number of parking spaces promised was incorrect. In the driveway, in spaces that were supposed to be reserved for the wedding party, sat several (3) broken down or stationary vehicles. The retaining wall near the entrance was fallen down and in the pathway. The hose was unraveled and spread across the pathway to the back of the house. There was a pair of used socks behind a Keurig machine. There was what appeared to be wood chips in our bed the first night. We have photos of all of this. All of this, we took with a grain of salt. We had more important things to be focused on! But then Friday morning arrived and my fiancé and several of our wedding party tried to shower. The water was lukewarm at best. We thought perhaps the showers needed to be more staggered but we continued to have issues with the water. By 11 p.m. on Friday, when I was ready to shower to prep for my wedding day, the water was ice cold. It was clear that something was wrong with the water heater or gas line or oil . I waited until 8 a.m. to contact Kai after more wedding party members tried to shower in the morning with the same ice cold water when turned all the way to “hot” on the dial. He took 90 minutes to let us know that someone was coming out that day to look at the house. By this point, I was 3 hours from leaving the venue and we had multiple wedding party members leave the property and drive to other locations to shower with warm water. Kai was condescending and offered suggestion such as “you might have to do shorter rotating showers but workable”. All of this was happening while I was getting my hair and makeup done. At one point, he completely changed gears and claimed that the house was on natural gas lines and that they were “doing work down the road” that impacted the hot water. We searched all of the natural gas providers in the state and according to their websites, that portion of the state does not have natural gas lines. We also reached out to the city of Pomfret about utility work taking place in Pomfret that may affect the address of Feather Hill Inn and received confirmation that the ONLY utility work being done from 9/15 to present was on fiber optics. We did not her from Kai again in any way for the remainder of our stay."

"Save yourself the trouble and money - this rental and the owner are bad news. Listen to me & many others - do NOT book this property or any others listed by the owner. We booked the entire feather hill as lodging for our wedding party. Immediately upon arrival it became clear things were not as promised - there were dirty dishes, broken glass all over the porch, no hand or bath towels, and other issues. Most notably, the suite we planned to stay in was a complete mess. Dirty kitchen & dishes, unclean bedding, etc. We notified Kai and he promised to send a cleaner out to take care of it - at no point over the weekend was it in a condition for us to stay in. At the end of our stay we negotiated a refund with Kai since we couldn't use the suite and there were inconveniences caused by the other problems in the main house. He agreed, and then completely ghosted us. First he said to wait until the end of the month, then he stopped replying all together. Completely ignoring our phone calls and texts. Absolutely unfair, unprofessional, and not worth it for any potential lodgers considering booking any of his properties. Booking the feather hill was the only regrettable part of our wedding weekend."

"Phenomenal stay. Me and my wife loved the stunning art work and decor. There are so many coffee makers, cookwares, cappuccino makers, and state of the art everything!! Too bad this fine establishment has had to deal with angry Karen’s."

"I stayed at this property over the weekend. You do not want to stay here. It was pretty dirty (however, not the worst I’ve ever seen). It was also clear the sheets were not washed. The worst part was there was no hot water. The owner refused to fix it and made excuse after excuse. You would think that he would apologize for the issue and try to fix it right away, but instead he told us we were wrong and that the water was hot. Also, the steps were unstable and slightly dangerous. I would not recommend a stay here. It is clear from the previous reviews that other had a similar experience."

"If I could give this review 0 stars I would. I had booked a weekend stay at the end of July back in May and had numerous emails confirming the stay. The weekend was PAID IN FULL prior to the stay. The morning of day 1 of the stay I called the owner to find out how to get into the house and I was told I would not be able to stay there because "it was under construction" He offered a refund at that point but I already had 5 people from out of state on their way to stay for the weekend so I asked if he had some where else to stay. The owner he said "I actually have a much nicer place you can stay in Woodstock." I forwarded the address to all the guest and when we arrived to what we thought "would be nicer" was actually an antique home with the entire front yard overgrown with weeds and trees, outside doors that didn't lock, screens falling off the windows, light switches that didn't work, rodent glue traps on the floors, a room with a mattress on the floor, some bedrooms without a/c units (the owner said it had central air, but who uses window a/c with central air?) And someone staying in the house off the kitchen with only a hook and eye lock to close them off. We left the same night we arrived to find a hotel and I called the owner for a refund. We drove to Feather Hill the next morning to see an event being set up and not construction. The owner obviously double booked us and did not have the decency to call us with enough time to find proper replacement accommodations and decided to do a bait and switch with us on the other home. I asked for a refund and have yet to receive it. I am over a thousand in debt in housing alone for 2 nights due to his manipulation and poor business practices. Highly DO NOT Recommend. I have emailed and called and he will not reply. Be very careful!!! The house we stayed in, in Woodstock is also an air BNB. The pictures make it look quaint and bright, not showing the realty of the home. BEWARE!!!"
