"This is a wonderfully unique experience for family reunions, group celebrations, corporate retreats, etc. You rent the entire complex at once. Really nice pool, and a good deal of land surrounds the complex. 10 rooms plus two nice common rooms/meeting spaces with kitchen. Walking distance to brewpub, diner, and supermarket."

"We had a great stay at the Sylvan Motor Lodge for a week in July. Loved the idea of being able to rent the whole place for a group of friends to use as a base for a vacation in the Hudson River Valley. Most of us were old enough that we remember staying in small motels like this, before all the chains took over. The collection of vinyl records, vintage magazines, retro games and mid century modern furniture all added to the fun. But everything you needed for a comfortable stay was definitely up to date. Dana, the owner, was so very nice to deal with before and during our stay, she was very responsive to any questions or requests. Everything is provided for preparing food and eating in at the SML. Outdoor kitchen is very convenient. We used the grills and fire pit a few times, but ate dinner out most nights. We dined at three restaurants that were within a mile of the lodge and the other two were only 10 or 15 minutes away. Hillsdale’s location in Columbia county, but close to the Berkshires and Dutchess county is ideal for using as a base. Whether you are interested in hiking, history, art, gardens, cooking or craft beverages there was something to see not too far away. It was wonderful to have the pool to swim in or relax by with a cocktail after exploring the area each day. Thanks Dana and Lyndsay for providing such a great spot to spend time with friends!"

"We loved our stay at Sylvan Motor Lodge! This absolutely adorable boutique location provides a unique experience: the set up, details and basic amenities of a hotel with the privacy and independence of a vacation rental. The pool is top notch, made even better by optional heat and an abundance of fun blow-up toys; our kids lived in it all week. The bedrooms are the concise size of a 1950's motel (which is what this was in a past life, with fun details like a turntable, old records, and vintage Life Magazines scattered throughout), but with an outdoor space and large common areas so versatile, the rooms were just for sleeping, anyway. An abundance of dish ware and an outdoor kitchen fitted with a full-sized fridge, commercial grade sink and plenty of ways to cook made the space perfect for our group, who ate every meal outside. That said, the indoor common area is so well appointed, we would love to come back in winter to experience that set-up, as well. It's so close to Catamount - would be the perfect ski vacation rental. We have a home close by and used this as supplemental housing during a reunion weekend, but our son loved it so much, he asked that we find occasions to come back every year :). Management is always available and never far away. Highly recommend!"

"We had an incredible stay at the Sylvan Motor Lodge. The owner was extremely well organized - helping us book and plan our stay with ease. The property itself is better than I could have imagined - we had 20 guests in the 10 different rooms. The beds and rooms were comfortable and outfitted with everything you need - a real bonus for our guests was the hot water kettles and coffee - what a great touch. There are so many different great areas to hang on the property - Adirondack chairs and fire pit, the pool, the outdoor kitchen, the indoor lounge, the picnic tables. People could be together or spread out. We loved that throughout the day when people wanted they could pop back into their room for a rest. This is a wonderful place to bring a group for a special occasion!"

"My friend and I joined forces to celebrate a milestone birthday at The Sylvan Motor Lodge, and it was pitch-perfect! There were enough cozy, clean rooms for everyone, including the kids. The pool is heated, an added bonus. We utilized the small kitchen located inside, and the outdoor kitchen, to prep and cook. We ate our delicious, locally sourced feast outside on the picnic tables, which we peppered with tea lights and gorgeous sunflowers purchased from a sunflower farm down the road. There is an excellent IGA market 3 minutes away, so very easy to get supplies and snacks. The vibe was cool, hip, mellow. The property is beautiful and relaxed. I can't wait to go back!"
