Reviews of Sasso's Coal Fired Pizza
"Honest review - First time trying this place. We did pick up on a Friday - easy in and out grabbing the food but a hassle to find parking for sure! We got a large Buffalo chicken pizza and an order of wings. First, the wings were decent. Extremely smoked - almost too long - as they were kind of dried out and had very little sauce on them. Second, the pizza was a pretty good pie. The crust was crisp - could really taste the coal fire through it & the buffalo flavor was good. Although I must say, they are extremely expensive. 10 wings and a large pie cost $56! $33 for a large specialty pie is outrageous - as you can see in the photo, there was a decent serving of chicken on it but not $10+ worth. I’m understanding of places charging more for “specialty” pies but that price is excessive. And $20 for 10 wings is also too pricey. Gave them the benefit of the doubt seeing it was our first time trying but for those prices I’m not sure we would return."
"The clams were delish. Beet Salad and Pizza is also good but I've had better. Drinks were great, and our server was excellent. Not sure I would go back because it was very expensive for pizza and salad."
"This place was amazing!! Had a really delicious escarole, bean and sausage appetizer, the arugula, fig, prosciutto, ricotta cheese pizza is amazing, and so was the spicy sausage pasta dish, as well as the vodka sauce dish!! Servers were all lovely in the atmosphere was fun and vibrant! My Garden Sour drink was very good too!! And my dad didn’t complain about the espresso, so that means it must’ve been good. We also got the tiramisu for dessert and that was delicious as well."
"As a pizza-centric foodie sasso's has been on my list of places to visit w/ a reasonable distance....finally made the way out here toting a good buddy along to rate these pies. The ambiance of the location feels old school n SCFP was the most active spot on the strip when we got there. We were seated promptly and everything was pretty streamlined. The menu had a solid layout and some interesting toppings We chose a cpl pies and waited for them to pull up on us. We ordered a hot sausage special And a classic pepproni They got to us in a decent amount of time and we got to see them working the coal pit which was nice. The verdict.... These pies landed in around a 7.7 on the pizz-ah-meter. The cook on them was good, there was nice char and some quality ingredients all around. The only bumps in the road were the heavy handed saucery. The sauce is good its just too much for the crust to handle which leads to the nxt bump which is the flop.... Its seriousssss which makes a fork n knife a requirement rather than n after thought or else youre challenging to shovel a slice in your face fast enough before and epic collapse leaves a pile of toppings on your lap. Outside of this you can see why they have been at it a min. Will return eventually"
"We went for brunch and there was a band playing outside on the patio/sidewalk area. Was really good. I had the banana bread French toast which blew my mind cause I had never had, heard or seen it before. I’m not gonna lie it literally looked like meatloaf but it wasn’t and was delicious. My kids got the bacon & egg on a English muffin pizza. Literally the whole dough/crust was a English muffin basically. Normal pizza size. Was just out of the box I thought anyway. Was my first and only time I had been there. Hopefully we will get back there someday"
