About the Business
Welcome to Central Kids Putauaki Kindergarten, located on Marshall Street in Kawerau, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, our school is dedicated to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment for children and families from all cultures.
At Central Kids Putauaki, we value and celebrate the bicultural heritage of Aotearoa, embracing the Māori culture alongside others. We have developed strong relationships with our tamariki (children) and whānau (families), recognizing the importance of getting to know each child individually before we teach them. Our guiding principle is "Know me before you teach me" or "Ruia taku taitea, kia rongo taikākā."
As a mainstream kindergarten, we integrate kaupapa Māori beliefs and values into our practices. Manaakitanga (hospitality), tuakana-teina (peer mentoring), caring for one another, celebrating milestones, and fostering whakawhanaungatanga (relationships) are at the core of our approach.
Our outdoor area is spacious and stimulating, featuring a large sandpit and various climbing equipment that challenges and engages tamariki. We also have gardens for planting kai (food) and a fruit orchard, where our whānau actively participate in learning alongside their children. Indoors, we offer a wide range of educational and fun resources to support learning and development.
To enrich the learning experience, we have three adorable bunny rabbits and an aquarium that the children enjoy caring for on a daily basis. These hands-on experiences promote responsibility and empathy among our tamariki.
At Central Kids Putauaki Kindergarten, we strive to make education affordable for all families. After government entitlements, our fees are $5.00 per hour, ensuring that quality early childhood education is accessible to everyone.
We are proud of our strong community connections and actively engage with other early learning centers in the area. We would like to express our gratitude to the Pelorus Trust for their support in providing new blinds for our center. Additionally, our Kihikihi Kindergarten is cultivating a generation of gardeners, teaching children the joys of gardening and sustainable practices.
