About Taruna College
Welcome to Taruna College, a unique institution located in Havelock North, New Zealand. At Taruna, we believe in finding new ways to refresh your sense of well-being and ignite a new passion for life and work. Our focus is on three key themes: Art, Life-story work, and Contemporary ideas about what it means to be truly human.
Through our gentle yet enquiring program, we aim to open up simple daily practices that enhance well-being. From journaling and observation to the use of poetry, verses, and meditations, engaging in art, practicing eurythmy, appreciating art, having meaningful conversations, and even learning home nursing treatments, our courses aim to develop your heart connection, artfulness, and discernment, ultimately leading you to a state of well-being.
Taruna College offers professional development and preparatory courses for teachers, aspiring teachers, and individuals looking to explore a new educational environment. Our courses honor and address what it truly means to be fully human, providing a transformative learning experience.
As an endorsed institution by the Anthroposophic Nurses Association in NZ, Taruna College also offers the Foundation Course in Anthroposophic Nursing (FCAN). This course prepares nurses to work with external treatments, including the Rhythmical Einreibung (Rhythmical Body Oiling).
Furthermore, we equip teachers with the necessary skills to incorporate movement in the classroom, fostering children's self-awareness, self-mastery, and joy of movement.
In addition to our comprehensive courses, Taruna offers a range of short courses that provide opportunities for both personal and professional development. These courses are designed to offer a fresh and dynamic range of learning topics, varying with the seasons. Led by experienced adult educators, our courses ensure an engaging and memorable learning experience.
If you strongly believe in Taruna and would like to contribute to our organization's prosperity, we invite you to become a 'friend' by donating annually to us.

Reviews of Taruna College
"I had the worst experience here. No info was given ahead of time for international students for their diploma course. It doesn’t run any longer. There were no replies to some important emails from Rachel Chapman in the office (later I learned they went to spam, very unprofessional!) and no orientation was provided. The hostel rooms were freezing cold and I had a nightmare getting WiFi in my room. The washer was dirty. No microwave in the kitchen. They didn't appreciate diversity but instead the 'tall poppy syndrome' seemed prevalent - like I had to adjust their ways for everything. It was the scariest, most nerve-racking experience of my life!! I don’t know if this seems normal for kiwis but they should have more awareness before marketing a course to internationals. And they didn’t tell me about the ten day refund policy, I would’ve returned in a hot minute. The manager David Noakes was unhelpful and rude. Very shoddily run course and even the director John Burnett left the next year. No matter what they say in reply this is to warn the general public before investing money here. Lucky for them I didn't sue them for letting me come 6 weeks late and putting it all on me to get oriented and catch up. Highly irresponsible management. This includes Brian, Michelle Vette and everyone there."
"One of the very best feeling places in town just gorgeous"
