Reviews
"The gardens used to be beautiful i it's losing it's attraction remember the water wheel when I visit the gardens the first time it wasn't tuning it doesn't look like it's been maintained"
"Nice garden area to relax and or read a book. You'll find it along the art deco walkway."
"The flower beds and gardens are almost always beautifully presented. Nice place to walk to and be calm! The gardens are not actually sunken - they are at the original level it is everything around it that rose during the earthquake !"
"Nice tranquil garden area secluded below the road and beach walkway. There are plenty of large round garden beds planted in a variety of flowers, succulents and other plants. There is an interesting sculpture in the central pond and a nice little waterwheel off to one corner. A lovely quiet spot to sit and escape the bustle of the city."
"It was a bit different having the garden below street level. I came by through the beach walkway through the Reef Gardens. The area is actually quite tranquil and very peaceful. There were quite a few flowers and plants even though it was winter. I quite liked the waterwheel and the water feature which passes through the garden. The sculpture in the middle was very different. There were a few benches but otherwise it didn't look like it was a good idea to sit on the grass. It is quite close to the information center so probably a good place to visit especially if you are roaming the beach area."
