About the Business
Welcome to Te Ana Falls, a classic 20-meter horsetail waterfall nestled in the heart of Tangoio Forest in New Zealand. Located just a short 30-minute drive from Napier, this establishment is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers.
Te Ana Falls offers a picturesque walk that can be combined with the Tangoio track, providing visitors with a delightful experience. While Te Ana Falls is undoubtedly more charming, the walk to Tangoio Falls is equally breathtaking, especially after rain when the falls are at their most stunning.
Please note that Te Ana Falls is currently closed until further notice due to safety concerns caused by slips and tree falls that have significantly damaged the bridge and walking tracks. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.
To reach Te Ana Falls from Napier, simply travel north on State Highway 2 for approximately 25 kilometers. You'll find a spacious car park on your right, clearly signposted for your convenience. Picnic tables are available at the car park, although there are no toilet facilities on-site.
The walking track to Te Ana Falls and Tangoio Falls begins at the parking area and crosses the stream via a footbridge. From there, the track follows the stream, leading you to the lookout point where you can admire the beauty of the waterfall. The entire return walk takes around 30 minutes.
If you have more time to spare, we highly recommend continuing to Tangoio Falls, which is only a 15-minute walk from the junction of the two tracks. Please be aware that the track may be muddy and slippery, so appropriate footwear is advised.
Te Ana Falls is easily accessible by car, with a sealed road surface leading directly to the car park. The GPS coordinates for Te Ana Falls are S 39° 18' 23.1948" E 176° 53' 7.1226".

Reviews
"Nice easy walk up to the waterfall from the carpark. Track was a little damp due to recent wet weather. The track meanders up the valley alongside the stream. Once we arrived at Te Ana falls we were greeted to a nice medium sized vertical waterfall cascading over a 30 - 40m drop. If visiting the falls its well worth hiking up the extra 15 minutes to the second waterfall."
"Beautiful little waterfall located in a small grotto 20mins walk from the carpark. The track is easy going and follows the stream up after crossing the large timber suspension bridge at the carpark. Further upstream is Tangoio Falls where there is a viewing platform and the track continues up to White Pine Scenic Reserve. However the track is currently closed above Te Ana Falls due to a landslide."
"Great place to have a little dip if you're up for it. Walk is easy enough for young kids and definitely not 40min."
"We arrived early morning in autumn, and the tracks were just incredible. The access to the car park is just off the main road and can't be missed as it is well signposted. Plenty of parking space available. There's a sign with details about both walks that start just over the swing bridge. Most of the track is fairly good, but I suspect it can get muddy when it's rained for a couple of days. I would say this is a must-do if you're in the area. This would also suit kids as we saw a few along the walk"
