Te Awamutu Bridge Club
About the Business
Welcome to the Te Awamutu Bridge Club, located at Te Rahu Road, 888 in Te Awamutu, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, we offer a range of exciting activities and events for bridge enthusiasts of all skill levels.
One of our upcoming events is the Te Awamutu Bridge Club 5B Intermediate Tournament for Junior and Intermediate Pairs, taking place on Saturday 12th August 2023. You can enter online and showcase your bridge skills in this highly anticipated competition.
We also recently celebrated the crowning of the Caltex Service Station Junior Champions. Congratulations to David Gibb and Brett McCardle for their outstanding performance, securing the title of Junior Champions for 2023. Vicki Shelton and Alison Muggeridge followed closely in second place.
For those interested in learning the game of bridge, we offer 10 weeks of lessons starting on Thursday 27th April 2023 at 6:45pm. The first two lessons are free, and subsequent lessons and resources are available for a cost of $20. Bridge is a fantastic game that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, and we invite you to join our club and experience the social aspect of this engaging activity.
We are proud to have had several local participants among the 14 tables playing at Matamata recently. Matamata members took home most of the prizes and are currently leading the Intermediate League table. However, we encourage all our members to participate and showcase their skills in the upcoming rounds. The Junior League final will be held at our club on 9th October, and we hope to see a similar turnout.
If you're looking for low-cost, face-to-face bridge, we recommend joining the Open Pairs event at the Cambridge Bridge Club on Sunday 22nd May at 9:45am. This tournament format is open to all Waikato area members, and you can bring your own lunch for a fun-filled day of bridge.
To stay updated on your table money balance, you can check it on our website. Simply create a login if you haven't already done so, and click on 'cashless bridge' and then 'Compa$$ Wallet' if necessary.
We also encourage our members to share their bridge experiences and photos. This year, Betty Bourne bid a lovely grand slam in a BBO casual game. If you have additional relevant photos, please forward them to us, and we will add them to our collection.
Lastly, we would like to inform you that our Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday 2nd December at 5:15pm. Please note that this date has been changed due to recent government announcements. The meeting will include the presentation of selected trophies and various agenda items.
We are grateful for our volunteers who make our events possible, including our kitchen ladies Cherrie, Alison M, and Noeline, as well as our raffle seller extraordinaire, Sally. Their contributions are invaluable, and we appreciate their dedication.
For more information about upcoming tournaments and events hosted by various Waikato club members, please visit the Waikato Bays region's website. You can also find results published there in a user-friendly format.
To enhance your bridge skills, we have added a link to a useful BBO guide written by Karen Martelleti on our website. You can find it under the "About Us" menu item.
Join us at the Te Awamutu Bridge Club and enjoy the exciting world of bridge. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced player, our club offers a welcoming and engaging environment for all bridge enthusiasts.

Reviews
"For the neighbors of the Te Awamutu Bridge Club the club is an ongoing problem. With the members constantly parking badly up and down the street. Parking over driveways and parking in front of the recycling bins so that the trucks are unable to pick up our recycling. Complaints to the club fall on deaf ears, they don't care. I bet they would care if someone parked over their driveway or in front of their bins though. Poorly organized club."
"I drive my dad here for his weekly bridge games on Wednesday nites."
