Renovated in 2016, Abbey Motor Lodge is a modern and comfortable lodging option. While our two basic studio rooms provide essential amenities such as a microwave, refrigerator, and cutlery, our other units are fully equipped with cooking facilities. Reviews
"wouldn't stay here myself. Pets allowed."
"This motel was grubby, smelled damp and of cigarettes, paint was peeling and leather furniture split and worn spilled stuffing on to floor. Don't book for a holiday as it seems to be used for social housing only. Good shower."
"Place is clean, but could be cleaner. Was good for the price, though. Overall, we had a nice stay and location was great. Would also have been better with softer pillows."
"I wish I could give a 4.5 rating but alas it is not possible. First the positives, and there are many. The owner is great, she is friendly and helpful and works hard to look after guests and the property. We stayed twice,, once when we landed in Christchurch and again the night before we flew back across the Ditch. Both rooms we stayed in were large, modern and very well appointed. The Kitchen and Bathroom has been recently renovated and were brilliant. The showers were great with plenty of hot-water and pressure which is a rare combination from our experience. The location is on a busy road not far from the centre of Christchurch which has its advantages and pitfalls. The obvious advantage is its centrality and proximity to dining and attractions. The negative, and the only one I have relates to traffic noise. Both our rooms were at the front of the building on Bealey Street and on both nights our sleep was interrupted by vehicular noise. This may not be an issue further back in the property. All in all, I recommend this property and would stay here again. In fairness to the owner, the is very little that can be done about the traffic noise. if it is an issue for you ask for a room at the back when you book."
"Great location, friendly staff, good price. The room was spotlessly clean, plenty of towels, shampoo, etc. And the water pressure in the shower was just AWESOME!! Would definitely stay again. Thank you!"
