About the Business
Welcome to BEAM Counselling, a brand-new practice located in Ōtautahi Christchurch. We are a group of qualified counsellors who are passionate about helping people find their way. With years of life experience, we bring a unique perspective to our counselling sessions.
One of the advantages of being a new practice is that we don't have long waitlists, so you can see a counsellor without delay. You can find us on Level 2 of the Burwood Health Centre on Mairehau Rd, Parklands.
At BEAM Counselling, we aim to help individuals from Year 9 and above. We consider ourselves "generalists" rather than "specialists" because we believe that everyone who comes to us is unique. However, we do have a particular interest and more experience in providing counselling for certain issues.
Our approach to counselling is based on Solution-Focused and Person-Centered Therapies, combined with our own lived experiences. We also incorporate techniques from ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. Don't worry if these terms sound intimidating – they simply reflect our training and dedication to different counselling styles.
There are countless reasons why someone may seek counselling, and we understand that taking that first step can be daunting. That's why we prioritize building a trusting and positive counselling relationship with our clients.
Our values define our kaupapa (purpose). We believe in the power of hope, even in the darkest times. We are here to help, not to judge, and we strive to truly understand what you're going through. We also recognize the healing power of nature and the importance of the bicultural context of counselling in Aotearoa.
Giving back to our communities is important to us, and we actively support various causes. Additionally, we understand the financial stress that many people face, and we aim to be flexible with our fees and payment terms.
