Malaysia Delights Riverside Kitchen

Welcome to Malaysia Delights Riverside Kitchen, a humble Southeast Asian restaurant located at 96 Oxford Terrace in Christchurch, New Zealand. As an establishment that specializes in Malaysian comfort dishes, we are dedicated to bringing you the diverse textures and authentic flavors of Malaysian cuisine.

Malaysia is renowned for its rich natural resources in agriculture, forestry, and minerals, and we strive to incorporate these ingredients into our dishes. Bursting with modern Malaysian flavors, our menu is packed with heart, soul, and a whole lot of spice.

Malaysia Delights first opened its doors in Manchester Street between July 2008 and September 2010, until the devastating earthquake in September 2010 forced us to relocate. We then found a new home at the corner of Kilmore Street and Colombo Street, only to be affected by the February 2011 earthquake.

In September 2016, due to economic factors, we made the decision to downsize the business and launch Malaysia Delights Street Food, a food truck located in Cathedral Square, in January 2017. However, in April 2019, we sold the food truck in preparation for our relocation to the new Riverside Market, situated in the prime location of Oxford Terrace.

Since October 2019, Malaysia Delights Riverside Kitchen has been serving up Malaysian classics such as nasi goreng (fried rice), beef rendang (served as a curry or wrapped in a roti), and ayam masak merah (a traditional Malaysian dish of chicken served in a spicy tomato sauce). Our restaurant is open every day for lunch, and on Fridays, we stay open until 8pm.

Throughout the years, Malaysia Delights has had the opportunity to participate in various events, including the Lantern Festival Christchurch and Culture Galore. These experiences have allowed us to showcase our passion for Malaysian cuisine and share it with the local community.
