Welcome to the Canterbury Men's Centre, located at 21 Marshland Road in Christchurch, New Zealand. As an establishment focused on men's health and well-being, our aim is to ensure that Canterbury men lead happy and healthy lives.
At the Canterbury Men's Centre, we offer a range of services to support men in their journey towards well-being. Our counseling services, available in Christchurch, Ashburton, and Rangiora, provide both solo and couples counseling, addressing a wide range of personal and relationship issues. We also understand the importance of addressing the unique needs of men who have experienced sexual trauma, offering specialized care and support for survivors.
In addition to our counseling services, we are actively involved in various initiatives to promote men's health. We conduct research, support men's sheds, and publish resources such as The Blokes Book and The Fun for Older Men book. The Blokes Book, in particular, is a comprehensive directory of agencies and services in Canterbury that cater specifically to men's health and well-being. At the Canterbury Men's Centre, we understand the importance of making support easily accessible. "A very helpful service that covers a lot of mental health areas. I'd recommend this service to any male needing support regardless of what the support is as if they can't help you, they'll find out who can and put you in contact. They'll even contact someone for you with your permission if it's necessary. This, and the Men's Centre which is next door are five star services. Nothing's ever a problem to them. These services are the only ones I really trust in the Christchurch area as they've done things other services have let me down on."
"I was left feeling worse when leaving my first my first appointment, after emailing in a complaint about the appointment, I received a less than satisfactory reply. UPDATE & Reply to owner:, there was no offer to meet, just a simple couple of sentences which said "Thanks for your email. I will take you out of the diary. Take care NOELINE. this was a less than satisfactory reply and all I would like is not to happen to anyone else who is struggling. It has not been great for my mental state and relationship."
"The best experience I had was finding Paul D. This gentleman is an absolute brilliant person to deal with. Nothing was a problem to him. I was having issues with my past re my sexual abuse from the age of seven to 21. Plus the work I did in funeral business. It all became to much for me to deal with on my own, I had thought of committing suicide. Then I found Paul D he got me the help I so needed. I can't speak more highly of him simply the best. "I came to the Christchurch Mens Centre for counseling during a particularly rough patch and had my first appointment a few weeks after I first contacted. The first appointment went well and we arranged to meet again a week later, however he never showed up. I waited outside for 45 minutes, rang the doorbell and knocked every 5 minutes or so but he never showed up. He never made contact with me again, even after I'd left a message asking why he hadn't shown up to the appointment."
