Welcome to Alpha Preschool, a stand-alone Early Childhood Educational Centre located in the heart of Richmond, Christchurch. Established in 1997, Alpha Preschool is privately owned by a Family Trust and is not affiliated with any multinational organization or group.
At Alpha Preschool, we pride ourselves on being a small, family-focused Centre. With only 35 children licensed in our old character home, we provide a warm and nurturing environment where children can thrive. Our Centre has undergone extensive renovations since the earthquakes, yet still maintains its cozy family home appearance.
Our dedicated team consists of four fully trained and registered professional teachers, as well as two teachers in training. Unlike larger franchised Centres, we value the close-knit relationships we build with our families and prioritize individualized attention for each child.
We have separate nursery and preschool rooms, each equipped with age-appropriate resources and activities. Additionally, we have a dedicated sleep room to ensure the comfort and well-being of our little ones. Our staff, including all teachers in training, are certified in First Aid, ensuring the safety of your child at all times.
At Alpha Preschool, we understand the importance of early childhood education and offer 6 hours per day, up to a maximum of 20 hours per week, of Early Childhood Education (ECE) for all 3 and 4-year-old children. Any hours exceeding this limit will incur a fee. Please note that fees will apply for children aged 0-3 years old.

"A really rare and wonderful preschool centre. Our daughter started at 9 months, and she was wrapped up in so much support and care during her 4 years there. The staff have stayed consistent through her time which provided so much structure and familiarity. All the staff genuinely care about the children and their development and the community that surrounds the centre is diverse and authentic.
