Welcome to New Shoots Tauranga Childcare Centre, a modern and purpose-built establishment located on Cameron Road in Tauranga, New Zealand. Situated opposite the hospital and near the city's downtown core, our convenient location caters to hospital staff, local workers, and out-of-town commuters.
As you step into our spacious building, you'll be greeted by delicious smells from the kitchen and calming classrooms filled with sustainable resources, creating a welcoming atmosphere that puts children at ease. Our outdoor spaces are centered around a beautiful old rhododendron tree and foster exploration and creativity, tailored to the needs and interests of our blossoming tamariki (children). Our infant playground is designed to spark curiosity, while the toddler and preschool area promotes safe discovery of their evolving abilities.
At New Shoots Tauranga, we take pride in forming warm and loving relationships with our tamariki and their whānau (families). We believe in an unhurried approach to children's development, knowing that play-based learning in a home-like environment is where they thrive. To support their physical skills and social and emotional competency, we offer our very own Born to Play sessions, a sport and movement program.
We are an integral part of Tauranga's diverse community and give back by collecting toys for the children's ward at the nearby hospital and spreading joy at the local rest home. Our fees include nappies, meals, wet bags, bags, and hats/beanies. We treat each day as a new opportunity for connection, growth, and building on the immense curiosity that will foster a lifelong love of learning.
Please note that we operate as a full-day service and do not offer short days or sessions. Our fees include high-quality teacher ratios above Ministry of Education Standards, and the minimum enrollment requirement is two days per week. Upon enrollment, a $50 fee is due to secure your place, and a two-week notice is required for termination. If you have two or more children attending New Shoots full time, a 10% discount is applicable to your eldest child's fees. Nappies and food are provided, but formula must be brought from home if required.

"We're an immigrant family with our daughter born in New Zealand. As we don't have any family here we were faced with the daunting task of finding a day care for her. We decided to only look at three care facilities. I wasn't sold on new shoots when I went there the first time as it felt too clinical (too clean). We had our meeting with Brenda and we knew this had to be the place. The absolute care and interest in our girl (and every child) is astonishing. We cannot recommend new shoots enough. She's in her third class and the teachers and kids have contributed to her growth. And we love the feedback. One of the things that sealed the deal for us were the fact that everyone eats the same food during the day. It saves you as parent having to prepare any and no child feel left out as we are aware not every family get to enjoy the same things in life. "From the moment I walked into New Shoots I could feel the amazing atmosphere and knew that this was the place I could trust with my granddaughters. From day 1 when they were only 2 and still babies needing cuddles and hugs the staff, especially Nanny Mel!♥️l have been amazing,the twins have absolutely thrived there. I could rest my mind knowing they were being so well looked after, fed, loved and happy! They are 5 now and on their last 2 weeks and I can tell you we are going to miss everybody!! "We have been with New Shoots Tauranga coming up 2 years. We have had nothing but a welcoming environment for my toddler from the day I enquired about this centre to now. I love how he comes home each day saying what he has done, who he has played with, what he has eaten (usually says cake but that's out of the mouth of babes) The staff, his whanau teacher, is exactly like that, they make me as a parent feel welcome and as a part of their family. If I have any issues they put my mind at ease. They encourage his learning and go out of their way to peak his current interests I have nothing but praise for the staff and the care that they give my son. "My wife Judy and I have the pleasure of taking our granddaughter to NSCC Tauranga and picking her up quite often. She is happy to go there while her mummy works as a nurse in an adjacent clinic. We love the happy cheerful staff, the inclusive, caring and loving atmosphere. The delicious smells coming from the kitchen, the big smiles on the faces of all the staff and spontaneous hugs from the children there welcome us when we arrive. We’ve also had the pleasure of attending “family night” when we all sit down as a big family and enjoy fish and chips. We highly recommend NSCC Tauranga. It’s a good and safe place.
