When the stadium is not booked, you can enjoy casual play and even try your hand at pickleball, a unique sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. If you have a specific activity in mind that is not currently available, you can easily book our venue and organize your own event.
The Y Lagoon Stadium hosts a variety of sports, including badminton, pickleball, basketball, volleyball, and futsal. Our versatile venue is equipped with basketball courts and a dance studio, making it perfect for sports activities and more. Pickleball, a sport quickly growing in popularity in New Zealand, is also available at The Y Lagoon Stadium. Played on a badminton-sized court with a waist-height net, pickleball combines elements of tennis and table tennis. It's an easy-to-learn game that provides a great way to stay active and have fun for all ages. You can come casually for $7 or join with a membership to enjoy unlimited entry, free setup during unbooked times, free league entry, and more!
Our regular hirers at The Y Lagoon Stadium include Kyudo, boxing, badminton, dance, futsal, and more. These dedicated groups bring their expertise and passion to our facility, creating a vibrant and diverse community of sports and activities.

"Quite a nice and small recreational stadium. I play futsal here on Tuesdays and its usually busy. Entrance to the parking lot on basin road. Generally not enough spaces in the parking lot but plenty of parking outside or behind the stadium."
"Recently hosted the Seniors Pickleball Tournament January 2022 using six courts over the two days. Staff were very helpful in running the required vaccination status requirements. They also managed the canteen keeping all the visitors very happy whether they watched or played in the competition."
