As a parent-led Playcentre, we strongly believe that parents are the first and best educators of their children. Our unique approach involves parents actively participating in teaching and managing the centre. With a low adult-to-child ratio of one adult to five children (and often one adult to three children), we ensure that each child receives personalized attention and care.

We are proud to offer free Parent Education programs, including a recognized NZQA programme, to all participating parents. This allows parents to enhance their knowledge and skills in early childhood education, empowering them to provide the best education for their children.

At Maungaraki Playcentre, we focus on fostering essential skills and qualities in children, including the ability to play, have fun, and engage with the world around them. We also emphasize the development of self-help skills, group skills, concentration, and a sense of belonging. Through play and various opportunities, we lay the foundations for reading, mathematics, physical development, and other key skills.
