Our Climate Change Adaptation Toolbox offers innovative educational materials that empower teachers and learners to navigate the challenges posed by climate change. Through this toolbox, individuals can identify their priorities, evaluate climate risks, build resilience, and explore adaptation strategies.

In addition to our educational initiatives, NIWA is actively involved in significant scientific endeavors. One notable project was our collaboration with The Nippon Foundation and SEA-KIT, wherein we surveyed over 22,000km2 of the area surrounding the Hunga-Tonga Hunga-Ha'apai (HT-HH) volcano. This volcano unleashed a colossal atmospheric explosion, causing tsunamis and shockwaves that reverberated across continents. Our mapping efforts, which included previously uncharted seafloors spanning 14,000km2, were part of The Nippon Foundation GEBCO Seabed 2030 project. This groundbreaking work has contributed to a better understanding of the volcano's impact and its implications for future research and safety measures.
