Te Puna Reo O Nga Kakano is a highly regarded institution located at 238 Thorndon Quay in Wellington, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, we are proud to offer a whānau-oriented center that prioritizes positive experiences for tamariki (children) and their whānau (families). At Te Puna Reo O Nga Kakano, we are dedicated to promoting te reo (Māori language) and tikanga (Māori customs) in all of our center activities.

As a Silver accredited Enviroschool partner, Kaitiakitanga (guardianship) is an integral part of our daily routine and practices. We encourage our tamariki to actively participate in caring for our environment and instill a sense of responsibility towards sustainability.

Our core values guide our approach to education and care. Caring is at the forefront of all interactions, as we provide support for the development and learning of tamariki and their whānau. We prioritize manaakitanga (hospitality and respect) in our engagements with everyone who visits our center. Empowerment is another key aspect of our curriculum, as we offer a choice-based approach that allows tamariki to develop at their own pace and celebrate their individual achievements.

Building strong relationships and connections is crucial to us. We aim to create enduring bonds with tamariki, whānau, and the hapori (community). At Te Puna Reo O Nga Kakano, we strive to create a fun and enjoyable environment for both work and play. We believe in providing tamariki with the freedom and support to discover and learn on their own. To facilitate the reinforcement of te reo Māori within the home, we have provided karakia (prayers), waiata (songs), and kupu (words) lists for whānau to utilize.

Our tamariki have the opportunity to learn various karakia depending on the time of day or year. We have an extensive range of well-known and lesser-known waiata that tamariki can learn at our center. Additionally, we offer word lists to help whānau practice te reo Māori with their tamariki.
