Welcome to Southern Cross Brightside Hospital, located in the heart of Auckland, New Zealand. As a modern private surgical hospital, we are committed to providing high-quality healthcare services to our patients.

Originally established in the 1940s, Southern Cross Brightside Hospital underwent a complete rebuild in 2000 to meet modern, high-tech specifications. Today, we offer a wide range of surgical services and post-operative care to approximately 4,500 patients each year.

Our hospital features four state-of-the-art operating theaters, 43 in-patient beds, and 6 day stay chairs, ensuring that we can accommodate the needs of our patients. Each of our rooms for overnight stay is equipped with modern amenities, including an ensuite, television, telephone, refrigerator, radio, and tea/coffee making facilities. Some of our rooms even offer balcony or garden access, allowing for a peaceful and comfortable recovery.

At Brightside, we prioritize the well-being and comfort of our patients. Our professional nursing team is dedicated to providing a high standard of care during your stay. We also provide nourishing, quality meals for overnight patients and can accommodate special dietary requirements upon request.

For the convenience of our visitors, we offer on-site parking and can arrange meals for a reasonable charge if requested in advance. However, please note that due to Covid-19 precautions, visitors may be impacted, and we advise reviewing our Covid-19 page before planning a visit.

As a community-focused institution, Brightside Hospital is continuously developing its facilities and surgical services to meet the evolving needs of our patients. Our network also provides access to specialist consulting and healthcare facilities, with third-party health providers and services available on-site or through visiting arrangements.

To ensure a smooth admission process, you will receive a Southern Cross patient Admission Pack from your surgeon prior to your hospital procedure. These forms help our healthcare teams plan for your care and include important questions about your personal details, health history, special needs, and payment. Please complete all sections to enable us to meet your needs.

After reviewing your forms, we may contact you for additional information or request a pre-admission consultation. Please remember to bring your 'Agreement to Treatment Form' provided by your specialist when you come to the hospital.

For your convenience, we offer online Patient Admission and Patient Health Questionnaire forms. By completing these forms online, you can send your details directly to the hospital and request a copy for your reference. If you are not a New Zealand resident, there is a specific 'Acknowledgement Form: Non NZ Resident' that needs to be completed.

Once you have completed the patient forms, you can scan or photograph them legibly and email them to the hospital or send them by post. If posting, please allow an additional 1-2 weeks for delivery.

Lastly, we want to emphasize that admission to the hospital for treatment puts you at a higher risk of blood clots. If you have any concerns or factors that may increase your risk, please discuss them with your GP or treating medical specialist.
