Welcome to Karori Kids Inc., a full-time Community Childcare Centre located in the beautiful suburb of Karori, Wellington, New Zealand. As a Registered Charity licensed for 24 children, we are dedicated to providing high-quality care and education for children aged 2-5 years old.

At Karori Kids Inc., we believe in spreading hope and compassion within our community. We understand the power of a single action and how collective efforts can make a significant impact on the world. Through advocacy and outreach activities, our passionate team works tirelessly each day to contribute to the greater good.

Currently, our roll is full, but we are more than happy to add your child to our waitlist. Please note that the next available spot will be in late 2023. We prioritize creating a whānau (family) focused community centre, where Te Whāriki, the national early childhood curriculum, guides our teaching and learning practices.

In line with the principles of Te Tiriti O Waitangi, we embrace a Teina Tuakana culture of manaakitanga, which honors and respects the uniqueness of each individual. Our holistic approach to learning ensures effective readiness for school, while our responsive member of our learning community supports the whakamana (empowerment) of our ākonga (learners).

We focus on the five strands of Wellbeing, Belonging, Contribution, Communication, and Exploration. By working closely with parents, we understand their expectations and priorities, allowing us to establish the center's identity. This knowledge is woven into our teaching of Te Whāriki, ensuring a personalized and meaningful learning experience for each child.

At Karori Kids Inc., we believe in offering unique and realistic experiences to expand on our children's interests. From caring for our chickens to tending our vegetable garden, we provide hands-on learning opportunities that foster curiosity and a love for nature.

Nutrition is a crucial aspect of our values. Our dedicated cook prepares nutritious meals on a monthly cycle, and we are proud recipients of the Healthy Heart Award. We prioritize the well-being of our children by ensuring they receive healthy and balanced meals.

In addition to our regular programs, we offer the Thunderbirds Pre-School Programme for four-year-olds. Operating from Monday to Thursday, this program focuses on developing basic literacy and numeracy skills, expanding general knowledge, and introducing children to the wider world through fun projects. We also facilitate group school visits to enhance the transition to primary school.

For three-year-olds, we have the Three Year Old Programme, operating from Monday to Thursday. This program emphasizes social interaction, listening skills, turn-taking, and participation in discussions. We engage with the local community, invite different organizations like SPCA and the Police to speak to the children, and provide supervised internet access to enhance their learning experiences.
