Welcome to Havana Bar, an award-winning cocktail bar and restaurant located in the vibrant and cozy historic cottages of Wellington, New Zealand. We take pride in serving a diverse range of internationally inspired tapas and seasonal plates, ensuring a delightful culinary experience for our guests.

At Havana Bar, we not only offer delectable food and drinks but also support local and international musicians and DJs, who perform two nights a week, creating a pleasant ambiance for your listening pleasure.

Conveniently situated at 32a-34 Wigan St, Te Aro Wellington, just around the corner from Fidels on Cuba Street, Havana Bar is easily accessible. You can find us on Google Maps or check out the map of our location below.

We are now open for lunch on Fridays from 12-3pm, and from Tuesday to Saturday, you can join us for tapas, drinks, dinner, cocktails, dancing, and good times. Tapas is a wonderful way to share food with good friends, and we offer group bookings of 10 or more on Sunday to Thursday nights and for lunch. Please read our terms and conditions for further information. Early Friday and Saturday night group bookings are also available, but please note that these must be sat between 5pm and 6:30pm and vacate by 8:00pm.

At Havana Bar, we take pride in our handcrafted concoctions created by our finest bartenders. We combine products sourced from around the world with an array of local and international wines and beers, ensuring a fresh, exotic, and exciting experience for your taste buds.

Join us on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4-6pm for $10 tap beers and $10 wines. While dancing on the dance floor is currently off the cards, you are more than welcome to dance from your seat.

Havana Bar is located in two historic Te Aro workingmen's cottages on Wigan Street, dating back to the late 19th century. This area was once known for its gambling, opium dens, and gentlemen's pleasures, as it was on the outskirts of Wellington's old China Town.

In 1991, Havana Coffee Works set up shop in 34 Wigan St, and later acquired 32a. The idea of a Cuban bar started brewing, and with the help of the owners of Fidels Café, Havana Bar was officially opened in 2003. For over 13 years, we have supported local and international musicians, providing a unique musical experience for Wellingtonians. We have embraced all things Cuban, from its history, music, rum, famous cigars, and coffee.

In 2010, Havana Coffee Works relocated, and we transformed the cottage into a stunning and award-winning tapas-style restaurant. Havana Bar is a unique urban oasis nestled among high-rise neighbors, providing the highest quality products sourced from the 'Best little capital in the world', including the rest of New Zealand and abroad.
